hi.. so im a 16 year old girl.. and i love volleyball.. my town doesn't have club volleyball though =( but i got my license, so next club season i think i might try out for a team an hour away.

i couldn't play much last school season, because i injured my knee. but i got surgery and did physio, so now i can start conditioning and getting back into shape. im going to a camp in august that i am supposed to be in really good shape for, so does anyone know what i should do to get back in shape? and if anyone has excersises that will help with my vertical, and my overhand serve that would be great! basically as much volleyball advice as you can give would be awesome..

thanks so much.. just one thing.. i don't have access to a gym and i can't always find someone to rally with, so mostly conditioning/training excersises would be best. i have a bosu ball, swiss ball, and 5lb weights.

thanks so much!!

  1. when i practice my overhead serve i usually go out side and find a strong wall and practice hitting the ball hard against the wall.

or sometime i even play by myself using my garage roof sort of as a net so the ball comes back to me. then you can try serving farther back or closer up until you get good at it.

For me i run or ride my bike to get in shape. take at least 15 minutes to run or just use your legs, then you could do sit ups and/or pushups depending on if you want to work your abs or your legs.

  2. There is a book that is very helpful in "weight training for volleyball". I tried it and saw effects in one week, but you'd need to spend 2-4 months to complete one single "delivered" program.

You might want to pick some of those that don't really need to put on weight if you are just stretching at home without any equipment available.

You can get the book "The Ultimate Guide To Weight Training For Volleyball" from Amazon for about $12-17 (new). The price has been up and down recently, but $11.53 is probably the lowest I have ever seen.
