  1. JOIN AN AGELITY AND STRENGTH CLUB THAT WILL REALLY HELP

  2. to increase your virtical do some squats at the gym. after a week increase the weight you are lifting. at the end of your gym period end with a little bit lighter weight you you dont feel weighted down.  also do some squats while standing on blown up discs (idk what they are called)  just remember when you approach to make it a quick approach to get the most momentum and swing your arms back really far. it will feel really weird at first but it really helps. and remember if you are a passer too, to stand behing the ball when you pass and set so it doesnt go behind you.  good luck with your season i hope this helped.

  3. it sounds like you're doing fine to me.  just be sure not to overwork yourself and to stop when you need a break.  be careful!  after all, how good can you be w/ a broken arm

  4. well im short and i play setter or Libero but being short has nothing to do with it as long as u can still reach over the net and i know how it feels in 5'3 and im still can bearly reatch over the net and honestly this sucks but play back row i mean u could try for a hitter but there's a great posibility that u wont make it sorry

  5. In my personal experience, 50% of volleyball is footwork, especially with passing.  Working on your vertical is great, but in my book, if I'm building a team, the #1 quality I look for is a great passer.  I would see if you can play some 2's, which will really show how much you need to pay attention to positioning... I try to tell myself I have a basket between my arms, and try to 'catch' the ball in the basket with my shoulders squared to the net.  Doing this will force you to move your feet (instead of your arms).  I would also make sure that you can serve something more than a lollipop consistently... you kids these days play this non-side-out style, which makes quality serving all the more important.

Finally... most important... keep a great attitude.

  6. To increase your vertical you can go on the stairs and put only your toes on the edge of the stair and just go up and down (not taking your toes off of the stair) and that would really help!! Also adding weights while you are doing that will hel even more!  remember to stretch out your calves though!!

I do not think your are moving too fast either!! that is really good that you are practicing!

To be a good player you need to be mentally ready and physically ready!  You need to have an awesome attitude and DO NOT GET DOWN ON YOURSELF OR OTHERS!!!  That is a big problem in our school!!  Just encourage youself and teammates allllll the time!!!

But to be physically ready i think you should do a lot of conditioning and just be in reallllly good shape!! That will make you faster on the court!!  And other than those things just work on your techniques!!  And i'm sure if you've been in volleyball before, you know what those techniques are!!

I hope this really helps you out!!!  And even if you don't make the team stick with practice! It will help you out in the tryouts next year!!!  :)

  7. Dude don't worry about your jump height I'm 5"2' and I'm the staring hitter. Just make sure you snap your wrists! It really makes a difference.  And don't jump to early or else you'll just come back down and the ball will hit you in the head because there is no time to try to bump it over.

  8. keep doing wat ur doing! practice! practice!

u shud hav a supervisor (ur choice). also, to keep track of ur jumping, find a place to mark ur self to see if ur improving. (height dn't matter!) & dn't jus practice on one thing. u need to be able to get an average grade in each positsion to pass. but, b4 anything, STRETCH so u won't pull a muscle.

    good luck & hav fun!! ; D

  9. your doing fine
