Volleyball coach Kaddie Platt joins Cougars – Volleyball news
The former mentor of Houston Baptist volleyball team, Kaddie Platt, has accepted the new position of head coach at the University of Houston volleyball programme.
The news was revealed by University of Houston Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades on Tuesday, March 27. Platt has great wealth of experience as she spent 17 seasons with Houston Baptist.
In her 17-year tenure at Houston Baptist, she led the team in a great way and enabled the Huskies to achieve an impressive win/loss record of 499-157. The HBU squad worked out high status under the leadership of Platt in the 17 seasons. They managed to claw
their way to eight conference championships, retained five regional titles, and also participated in the NAIA National Tournament for almost six times. The Huskies emerged as runners-up at the 2002 NAIA Tournament when Platt was honoured as NAIA Coach of Year
and Tournament Coach of the Year.
Platt graduated from the Houston Baptist University in 1994 and played for Huskies for four year. As a player, she was known for her excellent digging ability and still ranks eighth all-time in HBU volleyball history.
Platt is quite happy to take up the role of head coach at the University of Houston volleyball programe. She thanked T.J. Meagher, Mack Rhodes, and DeJuena Chizer, who helped her to join the Houston Cougars.
She said, “I am honoured to be a part of the University of Houston athletics department's vision and commitment to excellence. I am looking forward to working with the current players to compete for a Conference USA Championship next season and future BIG
EAST Conference Championships.”
Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades opined that Kaddie perfect for the Houston volleyball family. He described Kaddie as a person with great integrity and experience that will immensely benefit the Houston volleyball programme. He offered a great compliment
to her by saying that, “We have found the perfect leader for our volleyball programme.”
The new head coach is determined to work for the betterment of Houston volleyball. Speaking of the current condition of Cougars, she said that the team is going in the right direction but she would like to help Cougars achieve more success.
