ok.. so 7th grade volleyball tryouts are held this august. I need to get in shape and improve my skills, but i need to be able to do something that isn't that time consuming because i will be handiling a busy schedule this summer. I'm also going to a volleyball camp too, if that helps. So i need help figuring out what i can do to improve at my bumping and spiking and overhand serves etc.

thanks!!!

  1. 1. THE SERVE

If you are a lefty, then you are doing it correctly. If you are a righty you wanna put your left foot in front. Bend your elbow so your hand is near your ponytail, toss the ball, step forward, wait for it to be at the right point(the highest you can reach your palm), bring your elbow through the swing first, then contact the ball as high in the air as you can, hit it with your palm, use your stomach muscles also to get good strength, and hit the ball as hard as you can. Good luck and keep practicing!!! What I found is that coaches like is someone who does it the right way instead of their way to get it over the net. This is called being coachable. Try doing what your coach suggests at tryouts and you will make it. Do the best that you can and have fun!!!!

I was on the Absolute Volleyball team last year. It was fun!. I was coachable and that is why I was on the team! Have fun!

    2. PASSING

Make sure you have a good FLAT platform ( when you out your hands together)

    Don't swing your hands

Bend your knees and lean forward and shrug your shoulders when you pass

    3. HITTING

    left foot

    right left food

    jump

    turn to the wall

    contact the ball

twist your body( you get more power)

    hit the ball

    LAND

    ta da!

    Hope i could help

  2. Drills Drills Drills. practice the left, right, left net approach while jump as if you are going to spike it. also flick your wrist down to make a line drive serve over the net. if you can't make it over the net try a little weight lifting and conditioning. work on agility endurance (running)

  3. going to volleyball camp is a great start to improving your skills. tell some of the instructors at the camp that you are concerned about your bumping and spiking and hopefully they will help you in those areas. Good Luck!

  4. Volleyball practice is all about repetion.

During the summer, I train for the next season too.

You need to practice everyday. It's imperative that you get an obnoxious amount of practice when you can.

Serving during the summer is wayyy fun. If you are not very powerful, get the correct stance and the whole lot, and pound the ball. When you get some good power, learn to tone it down, so its a nice smooth serve.

Other than that... you will learn a lot at camp. Make sure you tell the coaches at camp all of your concerns as they can help you a lot.

    good luck hun. :D

  5. A ball and a friend.

Gym time is great, but if you spend time with a friend who also plays, you can play pepper while you chat.  This can really help you control the ball.

Pepper is played by player 1 tapping (or hitting) the ball to player 2.  2 bumps it back to 1.  1 sets it to 2, who hits it back.  1 bumps, 2 sets, 1 hits.  Repeat.

  6. Mainly work on drills, that will help you a lot. Volleyball however can be very time consuming, but going to camp is a wonderful way to begin your experience. Good luck with your volleyball!!!

  7. Volleyball camps are great they help you improve your skills in a team like setting. For bumping/passing make sure you stay low and have good control. Overhand serves are tricky at first, but when you get the hang of it it just gets better. Make sure to keep you arm high put evrery thing in your serve. Coaches like to see you play your best all the time and give everything you have, so remeber that. I hope i helped. Good Luck!!
