  1. You use "amazing" a lot. :)

The main thing to do to stop yourself from floating forward is point your toes to the setter on your last two steps. (you know, the two steps that are almost one right after the other, like a hop?)

Most people that float, jump towards the net, that means they have their feet pointed towards the net.

I don't agree with jumping closer to the net, this will often get your body under the ball and not behind it. When you re under the ball, you hit it out, when you are behind it and you reach with your hitting arm, you hit it down.

As far as arm movement, Take a tennis ball, and approach the net, then throw the ball down on the other side of the net. Remember the feeling, or the mechanics of how to reach and "hit" down. This is what you need to do when you hit the ball.

When playing softball, you hurl the ball. When you hit a volleyball, you reach and hit the ball down, like a basketball player does when they block a layup. If you equate this to softball, it would be like throwing the ball over a fence in front of you, trying to get it to land no more than one foot away on the other side.

Hope that helps. I'm far from an AMAZING hitter, but I am a coach. :)

  2. your whole approach should be at an angle toward the opposite corner on the court. Also try bending lower on your approach in the last two steps, to really plant your feet and convert your forward energy into upward energy. When you get ready to hit you should bring your hitting arm back like you are pulling the string on a bow back by your ear. Your palm should be open and facing away from your head. To help out point your nonhitting arm at the ball, that shoulder should also be more forward and higher than your hitting arm until you hit. When you hit drop the non-hitting arm  and swing away. Be sure to keep the ball in front of your head. if you are looking at the ceiling when you hit or cannot see the block in front of you then the ball is not far enough in front of you

  3. i play and i use to have a similar problem , i have foot faulted amany times by jumping to far forward

but my coach tought me to always use the same run up,

starting on your left, then right then jump on your left, , coming form the boundaries of the court to the area where the ball will be, coming at an angle you can kind of float in and this is better than vertical jumping as you get higher and more momentum  therefore harder shots

  4. u can go closer to the net.  it may seem weird, but if u start close, u dont feel the need or have the tendency to try and jump forward but rather straight up and down.

  5. start your run just outside the court and run in...when you jump try to swing your arms up and hit the ball down...

i originally had this problem and i still do...but i made my run-up longer and i jump further away from the ball...so i still make decent contact but i dont jump into the net...

    hope this helps

  6. In the last two steps, your feet should be at a 45% angle from the net. By planting them somewhat sideways it helps you transfer your lateral speed into vertical speed. Ask your coach about it.

    For throwing to hitting transition...

Try to not sing across your body when you are hitting. You will want to do that sometimes when you get better, but most of the time you don't. So get used to having your arm come down on the same side.

A little something to make you feel good...

Most girls have trouble with broad jumping when they hit. This is used less at the net, but the broad jump is key when you are doing backrow attack, or jump serving. So there are times when it is useful.

  7. hit the ball when the ball is not reached close to ur cheast its not easy for outside hitter because  ball was coming toward him it will take some time   if u will hit so hard the ball and ball is close to u it will b a week smash

  8. I wouldnt call myself amazing haha but i had that same problem you can fix it in a matter of seconds it you have someone set you then ball and when you are on the attack line have someone hold your shirt so you don't rush forward...remeber to use your arms to help you jump higher but concentrate on your approach think about meeting the ball half way up, not out. As for your arm movement bring your elbow of your hitting hand to your ear, reach up, and swing through and across your body DONT FORGET TO SNAP YOUR WRIST!! try to get on top of the ball to hit it down. Good luck and keep practicing!!

  9. jump strait up

    snap your wrist

    TURN YOU SHOULDERS

  10. try to start your approach farther out, so that way you can drift without worrying about netting. to improve your hit, you just need more practice, it will eventually come more natural.
