Volleyball libero. HELP.?

sorry if my spelling is off. :/

i was just made my teams libero today, i hardly know anything about the postion and i have a game TOMORROW!

my middle school team never had a libero, and i'm a freshman this year.

what makes you a good canidate to play the libero postion?

what exactly do they do?

and what are the special rules for a libero?

  1. Well my vollyball coach just found out your allowed to have a libaro in middle school so she asked me if i could do it since i did club and was more experianced but i love hiting and serving so idk about it yet... any advice for me? help me please! |)


  2. Playing as a Libero myself you basically need to pass the ball. It doesn't matter where the heck it is on the court, if you see no one else is going to take it, take it. And if you see someone else is going to take it, be somewhere near them to back-them up, especially if you know they aren't a strong passer.
    You need to be able to read the hitters and blockers. Move to where there is a hole in the block.
    Two of the most important things you really need is to:
    --Communicate!!! Communication is key. Tell the others its yours, where there hitting from, call your position when you want to hit, encourage them, cheer loud. Just don't shut up!!
    --COVER!! I don't know how many times my coach has yelled at people for them to cover. Cover the hitter. And yell cover so your teammates don't forget to cover either.

    And if you want to as well, tell your hitters where to hit. Tell them where the holes are and what kind of block they have.

    Don't worry if you can't get all of this at once. Or even in the near future. I've been playing most of my life and I'm still not good at all those things
