I wanted to know if anyone knows the rules regarding volleyball....

Q: if a player steps on the center line (below the net) is that a violation and a point for the other team? Or does the player need to cross the line completely?

  1. This is another one of those rules that depends on where you are playing.

In the international FIVB, USAV club and NFSHSA high school or junior high sets of rules, you may step on or above the line with your hand or your foot.  As long as part of your hand or foot is on or directly above the line, you are legal.  If anything else touches across the line, you are illegal.

If you are playing in the women's NCAA rules, you may cross the centerline as long as you do not interfere or cause a safety hazard.

  2. if you touch the line at all its automatically a point for the other team and its their ball. same with touching the net at all.

  3. i think just touching the net is bad enough, if you stepped over the line.. i suppose it would be a point for the other team. they're usually pretty strict about those rules i think?

    hope this helps =)

  4. a player may step ON the center line, as long as their  foot does not go over.

If the player touches the  net or their foot goes over it is a point for the other team.

  5. Stepping the line is okay, crossing the line is not. Crossing the line means, like any other violation, forfeiting a point to the opposing team. I hope I helped =)
