Volleyball player looking for a workout routine?

I'm starting JV volleyball for the first time next week and I want to get into a workout routine that'll both help me lost weight and train me for volleyball. I currently am 6'2" and 250lbs. Any tips?

  1. Starting to condition a week prior to practice can be tricky becuse your muscles willl be in a lot of pain, which will impact your practices.  If you're just starting, your coaches will probably be conditioning the team.  If you wanted to be more prepared for it, you should've started months ago.

    However, the best work out you can get is on the beach.  The combination of the sand, sun, and wind really gets you a good work out.


  2. Search your local Volleyball Association, coaches or friends who play volleyball for Agility training programs.  These programs are designed for quickness, agility, jump and the physical demands of the sport.  If you belong to a gym you may have a personal trainer work with you to design a workout routine that will target specific muscle groups one certain days to ensure that you will gain agility and fitness.
