  1. i have two fav places on the court:

    the server & center back

  2. I agree with the person above me 100%.  If you don't like it, just tell them that you would like a different position.  Apparently, they think that you are really good at middle blocker, so maybe you should just stick to that and be thankful for it.  If you ask for a different position, you might end up playing less.  Hope I helped!

    : - )

  3. i would tell ur coach that u have always been in the middle position and i would just tell ur coach that u want a change for once. it shouldn't be that hard to speak up for urself. i know that u can do that if u want a change!

u could always work harder in volleyball to see if they will put u in a different position. then ur coach might reconsider ur position.

Good luck and have fun in volleyball!

  4. they would definitely consider you as an outside you just havet to show them!

  5. u shud b an outside hitter ne ways. if theres taller players on oh already, state to ure coach they wud b the better blockers so they wud b needed in the middle. then u can go outside, make sure u can hit line and cross court tho! reverse psych usually wrks

  6. I used to be a middle until my coach decided that I was a little to short to for the position and switched me to outside and right side where I was better suited.  When you get to college a lot of middle at the competitive level are 6 feet and over.  I think it really depends.  If your coach has you in that position it's probably because your really athletic, have a high block, and fast footwork.  On my team the middles are the ones responsible for the most plays and often get a majority of the sets.  I really think that your settter may be the problem.  Maybe talk to your coach about running more plays out of the middle or talk to your setter working on the height and placement of the ball with her.  If you really want to switch then yeah, talk to your coaches, you most likely will be able to play OH.  But in the outside position on defense there is a lot of digging involved as most balls are hit cross court from the outside position.  So if you have scrappy defense and are willing to dig every ball then try playing outside.  The adjustment may be a little awkward at first, but you should be able to get the hang of it pretty quickly.

  7. Talk to your coaches. Most of the time, the most athletic player is put in the middle so you should take it as a compliment. However, if you want more sets then you need to play OH.

Concentrate on passing better and hitting on the OH spot during  hitting lines. If you are adamant about trying out OH with your coach but willing to underastand that you might play MB again if your team needs you there, they will try their best to get you work at OH. Who knows, maybe it'll be a blessing in disguise and it could be that an OH really wants to hit middle 1s and 2s more.

  8. Good question... but, do you really want to?

Let me put my argument here before I tell you how to make the switch to OH...

You have a clean "history" playing middle and you have been successful in that position (except you yourself is a little tired of not getting enough attention). It will make a perfect package for you to send to college recruiters and make a strong statement. If you were trying different positions but never could get to such a successful level, then why do you want to damage your already established image?

Having said that, I will try to answer your question, as I can see that you ARE the best hitter on your team and switching to OH might make sense ***to your team***:

    1> you need to evaluate how many MB/MH you have on your team, and how quickly you can bring them to your level. It would be like "should you get injured, would your team have enough to win games";

2> evaluate how good you are at the OH, and how you can convince your coach that you are better off hitting from OH than from MH; answer the question like "should the OH get injured, would you be the best one to play as an OH"... I guess you would say even with no injury you ARE the best OH on the team :)

3> talk to your coach about how this switch could eventually benefit the team (not to get yourself more excited/motivated playing), and set up a plan to give you a chance by playing in a few games... such as those that you can win with whoever in OH and MH/MB.

4> demonstrate your versatility and show your team that you could be good in OH; while the team can win more games (better yet, ALL games).

Finally, think about which position you want to play in college, and which position you might face less competition (you can easily stand out), and make that the highlight part of your package.

I was an MH/MB in college, but I got switched to OH when one of our OH was injured... but I did not quite like that position.

Just remember that this is a team sport and you want to do what is best for the team... at least that is how you approach your coach.
