i was a setter for my high school volleyball team and i was pretty good (i guess) but there is this girl the same age as me who was already a varsity (i was on jv) and now my coaches say i should be a back row passer or still remain a setter.. instead of being a hitter (they said because of my height 5'4) So idk wat to do any suggestions?

  1. Well, I would listen to my coach. If he/she thinks you could be a setter or back row, then the coach hopefully know what he or she is talking about. He or she might see strengths in your passing or setting possibly even for varsity. Ask your coach and see what they say! Remember. Coaches know more then we players think :)

  2. Depending on the size of your school 5'4" is to small to play in the front row, but at a smaller school you still might be able to play outside.  If I were you I wouldn't argue with your coaches if they ask you to play back row do it, anything to get playing time.  Good Luck!

  3. I would probably just go for the setter because that is the easiest thing out of all!

  4. im a libero(back row passer) on my club volleyball team. if your coaches want you to be a passer i say do it. for me it is the most fun position im only 5'3" so i can't really hit as well as many of the girls on my team. libero is really fun because you get to get down on the floor adn slide. it is an amazing feeling to make a great dig. i say try it and if you dont liek it stick to setting.

    GOOD LUCK

  5. I had this exact same problem. Do what your coaches tells you, they are the ones who decide who plays. Which position do you enjoy more. If you don't have fun, it won't be worth it.

  6. You should still be a setter if youre good at it... your coach cant decide on what you can or cant do (most of the time lol)... I'm a 5'4 outside hitter for JV and this year's 16 division but i got bumped up to 17 division club to play as an OH. I can hit pretty hard a few feet away from the 10 foot line and I can get a foot + a few inches over the net for blocks. If i can do it, you can too.

  7. Why can't your team run a 6-2 offense with two setters? It's pretty effective, and you could hit as well. Don't worry about your height. The kill leader on my team is 5'5''
