  1. Well, you are gonna need arm muscle, so if you dont have any, that is not good.  BUt against a house or with a friend, you can practice.  Throw it up, high enough to give you a second to focus on the ball, but not to high.  Then, when it gets to just about your forhead, hit it hard.

  2. The hardest part to an overhead serve is the toss. My club team coach used to make us practice tossing it with our left arm over our right shoulder. So just get yourself used to the movement of your left arm coming across your body . And also make sure that your toss is not too low.

You can also practice actually hitting the ball and find out where the best part of your hand to hit it at is for you. You don't necessarily have to be strong to have a good overhand serve, you just need to know where and how to hit the ball.

Some things to expect from a high school team would be things like

    1. more conditioning than in club or middle school

    2. overhand serving is almost  a must

    3. harder hitters, so it's harder to dig

    4. serve receive is probably the hardest part for a lot of high school players, so if you're good at that, then the coach will love you

Good luck with high school and volleyball!

  3. well 1st of all u should check and make shure that your coach doesn't already have a way he wants you to serve cuz my coach did but try flicking your risk slowy towards the last of your serve idk where u live but what really really helped me was going to volleyball camps during the summer if u need my help looking for a good volleyball camp near yr area email me at otis_thepug2006@yahoo.com

    hope this was helpful

ps u can email me if you have other questions about volleyball to cuz i luv it

  4. my coach use to tell me the best way to practice by yourself is to find a wall and mark on there the height of a game net and mark back from the wall the lenght your supposed to be and serve it and make it above the mark on the wall and keep on till you get good

  5. Expect the games and practices to be a lot harder than elementary. Our team won our region because we practiced and played hard, sometimes 6 in the morning on a friday!! Be ready for a huge commitment.

    Overhand serve:

step with the foot opposite your hitting arm

    snap your wrist

    high 2 handed toss

    Best of luck!

  6. One important thing to remember, while a good hard serve can win you easy points, you won't get any points if your serve doesn't stay in play. Also, you will want to practice serving to specific parts of the court. During games you will find players that are having a bad game, naturally poor passers, and even players paying more attention to their coach than your serve. Serving to those players can help your team get back into the game or pull away from the other team.

To practice by yourself you will need to find a wall. Mainly you will want to practice passing the ball above a certain height on the wall, although you should also spend some time working on your serve motion as well. If you want to be one of your team's setters then you should practice that as well, but your team will only have a few designated setters who need to be able to set real well, while every player needs to be able to pass and serve.

I'm not sure what level you have played at before, but high school volleyball is very competitive. Your team will almost always use all 3 touches to pass the ball to the setter, who will set to a hitter, who will take the last touch on the hit. You will learn how to hit and block, and where you should be if you aren't the one hitting or blocking. Even if you already are an experienced player practices will probably be very hard but remember to enjoy it as well. Good luck.
