Volleyball?!?

Question

i am 5'11" and i play middle.... i have a 24 inch vertical and an approach of 9'9".... i am starting jump training to increase these but everybody says i cant play college volleyball which is my goal as a middle. have you ever heard of a person my height as a middle? do you think i could???

anyone can be a middle if they can jump high enough, move fast enough, and have the strength to hit and block, I'm my book you're as good as gold to become a middle, just keep working hard and never give up!

You should be able to play college volleyball easily.  As stated above, you will probably not get many of the top rated D1 schools to look at you.  (You are almost too short to play Libero at some of those schools.)  There are over 300 D1 schools and then there are D2, D3 and NAIA if you only want to consider the 4 year schools.  You could also play NJCAA for 2 years and then transfer to a 4 year school.  

You have thousands of choices to play college volleyball.  Go for it.  Never let people tell you that you can not do something that you want to do without trying to prove them wrong.  In this case, you will have an easy chance to prove everybody that tells you that you can not play college level volleyball.

You were once a big fish in a small pond.  In college VB, you'll be a small fish in a big pond.  If you have particular good skills, you can get coaches to look at you.  But you'll have to show that you can maintain that leap for the entire set.

Well, honestly, not really at HUGE volleyball schools, like USC, Nebraska, and Stanford. your height suggests you should be Outside. But, with your great verticle, I wouldn't doubt you could play!

Buuutt at those schools, the middles are like 6.5. The DS's are about 5.10. So everyone on those teams are like human giants.

PennState would KILL for you!

being tall is such a huge advantage! Ive played volleyball for 6 years now, including junior olympic volleyball, and the taller the better! You can block well, and hit it straight down, the other team wouldnt stand a chance. Trust me on this, college like height.

My sister plays college vball and the middle on their team is 6'0"

I'm 5'7" and play middle and outside I have a friend on my team that plays middle and she's 5'3" we're highschool but my friend who's 5'3" can jump really high and hit really hard.

you're 5'11" that's pretty tall sure coaches like height but if you're really good it's not going to matter what your height is!
