Volleyball question, please anwser if you play volleyball?

Ok so hears the story.

Me and the boys are getting changed for a volleyball game and our coach Jessica says that there is a new rule that requires boys to wear spandex matching to your uniforms, our uniforms are orange. She said that we could play the game with the spandex we have already, and next game shell have our new spandex in. So i was looking for them and i realized that i forgot them, i told her and she said here use these, she reached into her bag and grabbed a pair of womens spandex out, she said its either this or you cant play so i put them on. They were the short and were the most comfertable pair of spandex ive ever played in. The next game she came and gave us our spandex and they were womens, is that weird or ok for guys to do?

That sounds really weird. Why is this female coach of yours so insistent that you guys wear spandex with no shorts?

Sounds kind of shady to me...

If your coach knows much about volleyball, then she should know that no good men's volleyball teams wear spandex with no shorts.

I think your coach should spend more time working on your skills and less time on trivial stuff like this.

Without knowing I can't really say much about your coach. It is possible, I guess, that a league may force you to wear spandex, but I think your coach is confusing the rules for men's and women's or, like others have suggested, there is something, very odd going on.

The link you gave points to "women's" baseline shorts. I truly think your coach may have come from coaching girls and is just unaware that this is unnecessary for boy's. I would assume this before the "fetish" angle. Does she make all of you wear kneepads too? If so, she may just be inexperienced and need to talk to other coaches in your league/conference.

doesn't really matter it looks fine lol spandex is really comfortable so i guess if you like to wear it why not? as long as your comfortable with it a lot of guys probably would not have an open mind about that lol

its okay to wear spandex but not the short kind like this one i think she is up to no good with that kind of spandex lol good luck with that though

Do the other teams in your league have to wear spandex with no shorts over them? If not, then I'm pretty sure your coach has some sort of fetish.

Personally, I think it's not hot at all. But who knows, maybe you can pull it off ;)

i never see my friends wear spandex when they want play. I usually wear basket ball short n a comfort t-shirt. it makes me move more flexible

If your serious about volleyball, you won't care what your wearing.  Look up what us women players had to wear in the early 90's.  They're called cover buns and not flattering on anyone with quads (and all great jumpers have quads).  Ha.  

Don't worry what the crowd thinks about your shorts.  Your performance should totally outshine your shorts.  The reason for spandex is a practical one.  Your constantly diving to the floor and rolling.  Imagine if you had on loose basketball shorts.  Oh boy would the crowd get a show then.  Spandex are much more efficient and easy to move in.  It eliminates shorts from falling off when jumping and skidding across the floor.  Do you think wrestlers are embaressed when they wear their get up.  Nah.  B/c they are so focused and into the competition, it's not an issue.  Let another team think it's wierd.  Who's laughing when you win.  Good Luck and keep your head up.  :-)

no, its not weird at all. its not like u can even tell if ur wearing guys spandex or girls spandex anyways. whatever makes you more comforable you shuld wear =]
