Volleyball rotation.?

I am new at volleyball so pardon me if I sound dumb. I was wondering why are rotations in volleyball clockwise and not counter clockwise? If you are in position 1, why not move to position 2, then 3 and so on? Does the rotation really affect the elements of the game?

  1. I believe it is because some dumb people made those rules, and some dumber people are executing those rules to make sure smarter players never go against them :)

It is like playing card games, some people go clockwise, and some counter. You don't care who is right or wrong until you put lots of players together when you realize something called (dumb) rule is needed to have more fun. The fact is that the smartest person who tried asking "why" always got banned from the ruler's games.

  2. I'm sorry but you really sound dumb. You do move from position 1 to position 3 when you are on base aka the number and spot u are on. Like front middle is 3 so if your outside left then u are 2 and u will move to that number. But that is base so lets say your are playing the 6-2(a TYPE of volleyball formation.) You still move normal but you don't stay in your base position.

    Bottom Right=1

    Top Right=2

    Top Middle=3

    Top left=4

    Bottom Left=5

    Back Middle=6

and that is position and numbers but depending on what formation you are doing you may not stay there.
