  1. Everything you could possibly want to know about volleyball:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volleyball

    Hope this helps!!!   :~)

  2. - The ball can't hit the floor (too basic :) ?)

    - 3 hits per side (not including block)

    - a person cannot contact the ball twice in row- that's a double

    - 6 people on the court at a time

    - The first contact after the ball is served over the net is typically a pass, followed by a set and then a spike or attack

    - the main positions are setter, outside, middle hitter, opposite, and libero.

    - You can't touch the net.

    - You can't go under the net.

    - If the the ball lands on the line is in but if you touch it and it goes out of bounds it's the other teams point.

    - Whenever your team wins a point you are awarded the serve.

-You cannot step over the end line when serving but may go off the court to retrieve the ball and put it back in play.

That's the basics... but theres a lot more....

  3. go to askjeeves.com, type in basic rules of volleyball and go to where it says volleyball-the basic rules

  4. there are six players on the court for each team three in the front and 3 in back

when serving you must be behind the service line and cannot step over until you hit the ball.

Each side gets three touches of the ball before sending it over those 3 hits usually go bump, set, and spike

you cannot hit the ball twice in a row

    you cannot touch the net

you cannot step under the net

( C ) Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve.

( F ) Serve must be returned by a bump only. no setting or attacking a serve.

    SCORING

    Rally scoring will be used.

There will be a point scored on every score of the ball.

Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit.

Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or serve into the net.

Game will be played to 25 pts.

    Must win by 2 points.

    ROTATION

( A ) Team will rotate each time they win the serve.

( B ) Players shall rotate in a clockwise manner.

( C ) There shall be 4-6 players on each side.

( A ) Maximum of three hits per side.

( B ) Player may not hit the ball twice in succession ( A block is not considered a hit ).

( C ) Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on serve.

    ( D ) A ball touching a boundary line is good.

( E ) A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player body above and including the waist which does not allow the ball to visibly come to a rest.

( F ) If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play.

( E ) Reaching over the net, except under these conditions:

    1 - When executing a follow-through.

2 - When blocking a ball which is in the opponents court but is being returned ( the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact). Except to block the third play.

    THE COURT

    PLAYING AREA

    Both indoor and outdoor courts are 18 m x 9mi (29'6" x 59').

Indoor courts also include an attack area designated by

a line 3 m (9'10") back from the center line.

Lines on the court are 5cm (2" wide).

    NET HEIGHT

Net height for men, co-ed mixed 6, & outdoor is 2.43 meters or 7'11-5/8".

    Net height for women, 7'4-1/8".

The height of the net shall be 8'.

    BALL

The ball weighs between 9 and 10 ounces. Ball pressure is between 4.5 and 6.0 pounds

Hope that helps - take care!

  6. when you're serving you can't step over the line or hit it into the net. you can't touch the net at all during play. you can't hit the ball twice in a row unless the first one is a block. you're only allowed three hits a side. it's the best 2 out of 3. in the first 2 games you play first 1 to 25 and you have to win by two. if a third game is necessary you play first 1 to 15 no winning by 2. good luck♥

  7. Almost all of the rules listed above are good.  However, there are some exceptions.

The first serve is not decided by a volley except for friendly pick up games.  A referee will conduct a coin toss.  The winner of the coin toss can elect to choose the side or to serve or to receive.

A serve does not have to be bumped.  It may be passed with the overhand pass if it is done with the same standards as any other overhand pass except that it may have multiple contacts if it one attempt to play the ball since it is the first team contact.

A player may hit the net if they are not involved in playing the ball.

Games are rally scoring to 25 except the deciding game to 15.  All games are win by 2.

There will be 6 players on the court.  Less than 6 is a forfeit or default.

Any first contact by a team may have multiple contacts by one player as long as it is one attempt to play the ball.  The most common is to have the ball hit the forearms, then the face.  That is legal if it is the first team contact and it is only one attempt to play the ball.

The ball may be played with any part of the body.  It may be kicked.

Simultaneous contact between team mates will be counted as one contact as stated above.  However, EITHER player may play the next ball.

Players may switch positions on the court after the ball has been contacted by the server.  Players may switch from front to back or side to side.  (Not just the front row players as stated above.)  Their roles do not change.  If they are a back row player, they may not block or attack the ball while it is completely above the height of the net and they last contact the floor on or in front of the 3m line.  Frequently, teams will bring the setter out of the back row so that they can keep 3 front row hitters.  The back row setter sets the ball and then goes back to the back row to play defense.

The Libero is a player that is a defensive specialist.  They wear a different color shirt from the team.  They can not serve (unless they are in women's college), attack a ball that is above the height of the net or attempt to block a serve.

  8. You must wear the Tiniest Bikini.. for starters... hehehe
