  1. mabey you can serve a different way like try to put your hands in a fist but then hit the ball with the front part of your hand (your palm)

  2. Try this drill...

Take the ball, and find a wall nearby. Toss the ball up as close to the wall as you can (try to get it parallel to the wall) and contact it just as you would a serve. This would help your contact and would use the high five motion...I hope this helps!

  3. practice your hand movement over and over again any time you have the chance ...then b4 you serve do it 3x then serve your body will get so immuned to it that it will do it everytime

  4. IDK, it took a lot for me to ace my serves.  You don't want your hand to be cupped as then you palm the ball (and it makes that light, not so good *slap* noise and your serve goes *pfffbbblt* right to the ground.) LOL.

Some people are just excellent at over-hand serves. Some aren't.  Your hand has to be open, but you want to avoid hitting it with your fingers. You want to strike the ball dead centre with the palm of your hand, but not "palming" it if you know what i mean. Your fingers have to be slightly bent back and your hand stiff. At least that's how i managed. It's been years since i played.

Also, as i said, some are just great at over-hand serves, and some cannot do it to save their lives. If you cannot serve that way, why not ask your coach if you can under-hand serve? Or side-serve? That's still legal in the game! You may want to try that until you can perfect your over-hand serving. A lot of girls on my team had to serve the ball that way.

Also, I'm sure you have some strengths to contribute to the team. You should point that out to your coach if she says she's going to bench you because you don't serve well.  Not everybody is good at everything. I couldn't spike very well, but i could set a ball like nobody's business! LOL. And was killa in receiving the ball (defense) LOL. So, that's a pile of c**p that your coach said that to you. Maybe she just wants to stretch you and press you to train harder? IDK.

  5. make sure your toss is high enough and if you toss it with one hand make sure it isnt rolling off to the side and going to far to the right. when you hit the ball make sure you are stepping forward when you serve and not backwards. dont turn your hand to the side hit it straight. if it doesnt work then i would serve in the middle in case it goes to either side and it should most likely be in. if it just doesnt work try serving a different style.

  6. well, wat u need to do is...well this is if u serve overhand!!! Wat I do is I throw the ball up nice and high, step with my right foot, and I drag my foot when I hit it, but u have to follow through with your serve, when you finish serving, your hand should be beside your waist!!!!

  7. I think it is because of your stance.

Try turning yourself a little to the left if you are "slicing" the right side of the ball.

Your toss might be another reason that you could not hit the sweet spot.

  8. If you are having trouble with contacting the ball

try spreading you fingers out as far as they can go.  Focus hitting the ball with the ball of your hand.  In doing this you can two different styles of overhand serving.  The floater or the top spin.  I hope that helps you.  practice practice practice

  9. Personally, I've never seen any serving like that before...I used to have a problem serving the ball crooked because my hand tends to tilt at the end of my swing, but I found it helpful to keep my swinging hand balled up in a fist and opening it at the last moment to serve. Swing like you're about to punch someone with the BASE of your palm, or like how you would knock on a door. Right before your hand makes contact with the ball though, open up your hand so you DON'T punch it. Punching the ball in a serve doesn't allow ANY control over where the ball's going to go, so you have to remember to open up your hand. That was my way of serving, but lately, my coach has been making our team serve in an identical fashion.

Another way (the way we're forced to serve now) is to hold the ball up in front of you with two hands (hitting hand on top of it, tossing hand on the bottom of it). You toss the ball up for a serve, and as you toss it up, you bring your hitting hand UP (don't let it go down to your side or anything). As you're about to hit it, step forward with the leg on the opposite side of your hitting arm. Then make contact with the ball with your whole hand. You have to keep your hand open through the steps. Hope one of these ways help you. They helped me make my serves over AND to make aces. ^^
