  1. It is an honor dont pass it up! when you are a setter you always get the second hit unless it goes over or someone misses. Setters get lots of playing time!!

  2. The setter is like the quarterback of the volleyball team!  Be proud!

  3. If you play a 6-2 rotation, then you would be a hitter when you are in the front row. (If they don't sub you out!) When you're in the back row, you'd run to the front to set.

If you play a 4-2, then you are out of luck- you'd be the setter full time.

Find out what rotation you do, and that will tell you whether you'll still be able to be a hitter.

...and setters are the heroes of the team! I'd be flattered if I were you!

  4. In middle school, you probably play with 2 setters on the court but you set in the front row (called a 4-2, 4 hitters/2 setters).  If that's true, then you probably won't get to hit much (unless the other team passes it over the net).

Once you get to high school you may play in an offense where the setter sets in the back and hits in the front (called a 6-2)

That being said, be a setter... you touch the ball a lot more and can control the flow of the game.

  5. Normallly your setter is the best athelete, so take it as a complement. A good setter makes hitters look good, thats thier job. A bad setter can make even the best hitter look bad, so the setting position is the most important. If you really want to win games, you need a good setter.

If you run a 4/2 then I would ask to hit back row. It's very effective and easy to run in middle school. Don't pass the 10ft line when attacking.
