why are volleyball players so tall? can someone please tell me why?

they are tall so they can get above the net and spike the ball down and also so they can block

im a girl and im 5&#039; 7&#039;&#039; but my 15 year old brother is also a volleyball player and he is 5&#039; 11&#039;&#039;

I am a volleyball player and are 4&#039;7! I do a different find of spike and it is really good! I just hit it!

so what. im not tall. im 5&#039;1 but i jump really high so i play outside hitter on my club team.

5&#039;7, I couldn&#039;t imagine playing if i was really short.

it&#039;s just easier, especially if you play up front.

So they can Spike the ball really good with out having to jump so high...Yes i am a Volleyball player but I&#039;m only 5&#039;1 1/2.  So I&#039;m really short so its really hard for me to spike.

uh, not all vb players are tall...most of the time im the shortest one on the team and I&#039;m usually on defense or offense &amp; i spike the ball in a strong form that the opponents look at me in a &quot;whow!.wait what just happened?!&quot; or sometimes in a &quot;what?!.?!. she can spike??..&amp; she&#039;s the shortest one on the game court!.(didn&#039;t see that coming..)&quot;

by the way, im 4 ft + 10-1/2 inches tall.

i play volleyball and i am 5 foot 4! i wouldnt call tht tall i call that average...

i am sooooo short, but that means that you can pass the ball better than most players, not ALL volleyball players are tall. hope i answered your question. i am barely 5 feet. :)

Their tall because they can block and spike the ball (closer to the net) easier.  Hits that are straight down are pretty good, because they&#039;re hard to save.  Therefore tall people have a better chance of getting on a team.  I&#039;m only 5&#039; 1/2.  I stand no chance in making the team this year =(

I am a volleyball player and i am 5&#039;2&#039;&#039;. i am a short volleyball player but i love the sport! i play back row cause i can just barely jump over the net. It is good to be tall but their are many good positions for small people!!

I played and I am 5 ft 8 inches, my boyfriend played in high school as well and he is 5 ft 11 inches, and now my brother plays and he is 6&#039;1&quot; and still growing.

My guess is that usually most front row volleyball players are tall because it gives them an advantage at the net.

volleyball players are tall because it gives them an advantage at the net. if you are tall, you can hit the ball down and hard, which is more difficult for the other team to hit. and your blockers[if you have ever watched vball] have to be tall (or jump high) so that they can get their arms over the net to block the opponents hitter.

i am a middle blocker, however i am only 13. i am 5&#039;8.5&quot;, but am destined to be 6&#039;. i also have a 20 inch vertical, so there ya go.

Im an outside Hitter for my girls hs team and Im about 5&#039;11&quot; with a 24&quot; vertical so I get up there. It helps to be tall to hit over the blockers and to put the ball down easier
