Volleyball special, Radostin Stoychev, successful coach of the Club World Championship
The Italian Men’s Volleyball club, Trentino BetClic enjoyed the big boom at the 2010 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar. The Italian squad demonstrated great skill-set while playing against the world’s best club teams and successfully secured the title trophy for a consecutive year.
Trentino BetClic was challenged by Poland’s PGE Skra Belchatow in the final encounter. The Italian players exhibited a spectacular performance and refused to lose the top spot. They finished on the podium and got hold of the title trophy. Trentino BetClic’s victory was a result of hard-work and dedication of the players.
Nonetheless, the real hero has to be the mentor of the Italian team, who assembled a great team and led the squad to success. The head coach, Radostin Stoychev must be credited for success of the Italian team.
He spent plenty of time to train his team for the big clash at the Club World Championship. Before the start of the tournament the air was full of wild guesses and different opinions about the world champions.
Quite recently, the Italian team was having some player-injury issues. On the other hand, the rival teams posed a threat for the Trentino BetClic. The last year’s runner up team, PGE Skra Belchatow, was the top contender of the world title.
In the need of the hour, the head coach of Italy’s team worked his magic with the team and gave them an excellent plan to live up to their dream. Stoychev was the main force behind the Italian strike.
After capturing the title, Stoychev disclosed his thoughts about the potential risks. He said:
"This victory comes from the strength of our group because coming to Qatar we had been going through some problems, especially with injuries that affected our players, with (Emanuele) Birarelli out for the whole tournament and (Andrea) Sala struggling with an injury to his shoulder. We have been able to develop a real team effort and that is the main reason for our success. This competition was our main target for the season together with the national league, also because it is always very difficult to get back-to-back victories in such an elite event. Although we had lost 3-0 to Belchatow in the Champions League, I was not afraid because every game is a different story".
