Volleyball special: FIVB honours Argentina for “Excellency in Organisation”
The Argentina Volleyball Federation (FeVA) has been instrumental in promoting the wonderful sport of volleyball in country. They have been working on the Men’s National Volleyball team for several years and the team has flourished in a great way. Currently, the Argentinean squad comes with a lot of respect in top teams of the world.
In the recent memory, the last meeting of the FIVB World League Council introduced the new Final Round Formula. In the light of new rule, Argentina has been placed in the Pool C along with Serbia, Egypt and Finland. Argentina hosted the 2010 edition of FIVB World League Championship and got away with very higher international level of requirements.
This time around, the FIVB also evaluated the organising counties for the final round of the World League Championship. Argentina scored 191 points and remained in the top-three organising countries, together with Poland and Russia. These three countries successfully fulfilled the FIVB criteria and obtained the level of “Excellency in Organisation”. The Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) has congratulated these countries for maintaining the excellent form to host the international events. They have urged them to keep up the same quality in future. The 2011 edition of the FIVB World League Championship will be held in Gdansk, Poland.
In the evaluation process, Argentina stood in fourth place in terms of audiences’ capacity and percentage of crowded places. Besides, Argentina attained 273 points out of 285 at the Final Six evaluation, which took place at the Cordoba Orfeo Superdomo in the month of July.
The President of Argentinean Federation, Alejandro Bolgeri expressed his views that , "This is very positive for the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA), it is the result of seven years of working towards the growth of Argentine Volleyball in a convincing way. This is an award, not a gift. It confirms that we are working in the right path, seriously and over all growing and improvement”.
Argentina’s “Excellence in Organisation” was acknowledged by the World Congress, which was attended by 230 delegates from around the world. The 32nd World Congress was held in Rome, Italy in September. In addition, the FIVB World League also organised the World League Council meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland with delegates from 16 countries.
The FIVB also confirmed Argentina’s Excellency and awarded with great honour to host the 2011 Youth Boys World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in next August.
