Volleyball special: Italian club Bergamo will be playing at Club World Championship with new captain
The Italian Women’s Volleyball Club Bergamo is up for the challenge at the 2010 Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar this month. The FIVB Women’s Club World Championship is scheduled to run from December 15-21. Bergamo is headed by coach, Davide Mazzanti
who has been attached with Italian club for quite a long time.
Bergamo will be playing at the Club World Championship under the command of new captain, Francesca Piccinini. Previously, Elenora Lo Bianco was attached with team as captain but she is out of the tournament on account of a medical operation. Lo Bianco suffered
from an unwanted swelling on her chest and she is supposed to undergo an operation. In the absence of Lo Bianco, all the responsibility is on Piccinini’s shoulders and she has the daunting task of leading the team to success.
In fact, Bergamo couldn’t dig up huge success in the 2010 season. They had a tough start and lost most of their competitions. Turkey’s Fenerbahce caused them a major blow in the CEV Champions League. Moreover, Bergamo failed to create any vibe at the home
soil. They delivered mixed results in the Italian League. They were rarely in news for some outstanding work throughout the season. The head coach, Mazzanti is aware of the situation and he has urged to team to end the season at good note. He said, “The beginning
of this season has been difficult. We have had difficulty and this is because the team has not trained together enough. We must find our game. And the absence of Lo Bianco has been a hard blow.”
The team is also resolved to shake off the bad impression and perform better at the Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar. The new captain Piccinini has a lot experience in the game and she has the ability to get the best out of her players. The team is
equipped with great player line. Arrighetti and Nucu, the wonderful blockers will be a huge support for Italian club. In addition, team has young spikers Lucia Bosetti, Serena Ortolani and Elitsa Vasileva. Bergamo will open the championship by taking on Dominican
Republic’s Mirador, which is considered a tough contender of the game.
The captain girl of Bergamo is full of ambition and confidence to play well at the tournament. She said, “We are working in order to create a strong group and in order to live the special experience of the Club World Championship. Our job is to win all the
matches that we will play in Doha.”
Good luck Italiano!
