Volleyball special: Kenya Prisons is up for the challenge at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship
There is not much time left in the opening of 2010 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship. The host city Doha in Qatar is preparing for the big rumble, which is scheduled to run from December 15-21. The volleyball clubs all over the world are working on their
skills to steal the show at Club World Championship. In this connection, the women’s club team of Kenya Prisons is full of ambition to climb up the stairs of fame.
Kenya Prisons is one of the best clubs from Kenya. They have worked out a great name and reputation for them in the recent years. Despite of obscure circumstances, they have emerged as a pillar of hope for African clubs. The team is supervised by head coach,
David Lungaho who has lot of faith in his players. Team has most of the young players but they have a thrust for victory. They have proved their mettle at the national and continental level. Since the formation of Kenya Prisons in 2006, they have clinched
2 continental titles and 3 national league crowns. Besides, the team has earned a very good standing while playing against better clubs in Africa.
The Women’s Club World Championship in Doha Qatar will put their abilities to real test. The team has been preparing hard for the contest. The long hours of practice and training are getting better of the players. Kenya Prisons will be playing in Pool B
of the Club World Championship. They are scheduled to face their arch rivals Mirador in the opening match on December 15. Afterwards, they also have another tough match with Bergamo.
The coach has set the targets for his team. Talking to media, the coach David Lungaho said, "We are taking one match at a time. Our target is to get to the finals and if we can win this competition, then it will be a great honour to us and Kenya as a whole.
If you look at the hunger in the players' eyes for success, you will see they will be not be going to Doha just to fill the numbers but to stake a claim at the bigger prize. I have an advantage because they are mostly young players and soon we will be able
to completely dominate Volleyball in Africa and in Kenya."
Kenya Prisons had great prospects to catch the limelight at the Club World Championship. Anyhow, the world has to wait and see for the opening of championship, which will decide the best team.
