Volleyball special: Lady commander of Kazakhstan’s team
The world is full of male dominance but ladies are never behind in the race. They are equally active and play a vital role in the development sector. Women can be spotted in every major field of life and if one searches the pages of history; one would come
across legendary ladies with influential achievements. Same is the case with Nelli Chsherbakova who is the only female coach among the 24 participating teams of the 2010 FIVB World Championship.
Nelli Chsherbakova is performing her duties as the head coach of Kazakhstan’s Women’s National Volleyball Team. She is quite happy with the role and responsibility which has been given to her and she doesn’t feel annoyed by the inequality. Chsherbakova started
her career as setter for Kazakhstan’s women’s team but then she opted for coach’s job. She trained the team for ten years and then left. Once again she got an invitation from the management and joined the Kazakh squad. She has been attached to the team for
two years now.
Chsherbakova has led the team in a great way and she has much faith in her squad. The lady is full of capabilities and she takes pleasure for being the only one female coach amongst 24 teams. In 2006, 'Jenny' Lang Ping as coach of United States was the only
female at the helm of one of the 24 sides competing for global women's Volleyball supremacy. Now it is time for Chsherbakova to follow Jenny’s steps and catch limelight.
Chsherbakova talked to a press conference of Pool C coaches on Thursday in Masumoto. She expressed her views, "I feel comfortable in my position as the only woman coaching in the championship because I only see it as a profession. Nobody asks the men why
they are coaching women's teams because it is their profession also. Coaching is a profession and it does not have any influence if you are a woman or a man, so I feel fine as the coach of Kazakhstan.”
Nelli Chsherbakova has associated with different clubs of former Soviet Union in the past. She used to coach ADK Team against Uralocha of Ekaterimburg. She also coached boys' junior and youth teams for quite some time. But at this time, she is of opinion
that she isn’t paying much attention to the difference of gender. Chsherbakova has big challenge to lead the team to success at the FIVB World Championship 2010.
