Volleyball special report: Preview of the upcoming volleyball campaigns

The volleyball action always keeps in the loop and the activity continues in some part of the world. The volleyball federations throughout the world are always planning new events and teams have a lot of business to run. The latest buzz in Asia is the FIVB
Women’s World Championship, which is just about to start at the end of this month. The passionate fans are desperately waiting for the tournament dates to come. Likewise, the Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) is also planning volleyball club championships
for both women’s and men’s teams in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland.
The NEVZA Club Championships coming up in early November
The news has been released from the Zonal Association of the Northern European
Volleyball Zonal Association (NEVZA) that the Nordic Club Volleyball Championships will soon hit the town in coming few days with full intensity. The venues for the competitions have been selected by the General Assembly in Ljubljana, last
week. Initially the work has started and the preliminary Pools have been decided. In the women’s division, 11 teams will contest their abilities. Katrineholm, Lindesberg, Engelholm will represent Sweden, while Fortuna Odense, Bröndby, and Holte will join the
championship from Denmark. Likewise, UiS Volley, BSI Volleyball, Koll and Oslo from Norway will embark on the scene.

Group 1: UiS Stavanger (Norway), Lindesberg, Fortuna Odense and Oslo; Group 2: Koll, Katrineholm, Holte (Sweden) and HK (Iceland); Group 3: Engelholm (Denmark), Bröndby and BSI.
A total of 9 men’s team will take part in the activity. Falkenberg and Linköping from Sweden; Marienlyst, Gentofte, Middelfart and Aalborg from Denmark; Förde, Nyborg and Oslo of Norway will represent their respective clubs.

The teams have been divided into three Preliminary groups as follows:

Group 1: Gentofte, Linköping (coordinator), and Oslo; Group 2: Falkenberg (coordinator), Middelfart and Nyborg; Group 3: Marienlyst, Aalborg (coordinator), and Förde.
The Official group stage competitions will be continued through November 5-7, 2010. The successful teams of preliminary robin round will move to the final stage, which will be staged from 28-30 January, 2011. In addition, the best second ranked team will
also join the finalists’ group.

2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship, Tokyo, Japan
The most awaiting event of the year, the FIVB Women’s World Championship is around the corner. The women’s mega volleyball event will be hosted by Japan this year. The amazing volleyball extravaganza will be attended by 24 teams from five different continents
of the world. The major volleyball federations will send their teams to Tokyo for the big competition. The FIVB Women’s World Championship will start on October 29 with the preliminary robin round. The first phase of the tournament will be covered up till
November 3 and it will be followed by the second round, where the top four teams of each pool will play their matches. The final round and classification matches will end the activity on November 14, 2010.
The teams will be divided into 4 pools: Pool A, Pool B, Pool C, and Pool D. Peru, Serbia, Japan, Poland, Algeria and Costa Rica will be put in the Pool A, while Pool B will accommodate teams from Brazil, Italy, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Czech Republic
and Kenya. Similarly, USA, Cuba, Germany, Thailand, Croatia and Kazakhstan will play with a label of Pool C. The teams from Russia, China, South Korea, Turkey, Dominican Republic and Canada will be seen in the Pool D. The teams are making their way to the
Japan. Some of the teams have arrived in Japan and they have started the preparation.
The teams will travel to five different Japanese cities to play the matches.  The arrangements have been set up in Tokyo, Matsumoto, Hamamatsu, Nagoya and Osaka.
