Volleyball special report: Top 10 scorers of 16th Southeast Asian Jr. Championship Thailand
The exciting volleyball action of 16th Southeast Asian Jr. Men’s Championship kept the fans entertained from 24-28 September 2010. The Ratchaburi Gymnasium, Thailand was rocked with the wonderful team performances during five days. The tournament welcomed six teams from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia and Myanmar. The tournament provided an excellent opportunity for players to catch the limelight. The final round of the championship was played on Tuesday, 28th September 2010, which revealed the team rankings and top scorers of the tournament.

Chanchai Kitsada – Thailand
The host-Thailand has the honour of capturing the top-spot in this category. The No. 2 player Chancahi Kitsada contributed the maximum 98 points to his team’s score. Also known as the scoring machine, Chanchai Kitsada has played a vital role in Thailand’s overall success. The player has been very keen and alert throughout the championship. The total number of spikes hit by Chanchai is 84. Moreover, he has 9 blocks and 5 important serve points associated with his name.
Aung Thu - Myanmar
Myanmar’s team has also been able to grab much attention in this campaign. The team has some of best players of the tournament. One such name is Aung Thu, who scored 90 valuable points during the championship. Aung Thu attempted 86 successful spikes and 4 blocks. Myanmar’s team came across the stronger competitors but Aung Thu supported team’s score and won several rallies with his powerful spikes.
Cheoh Jia Ming – Malaysia
The Number 11 player of Malaysian squad, Cheoh Jia Ming also jumped in the top-scorers’ category with his brilliant 76 points in the tournament. Cheoh Jia Ming secured the third spot with the help of 67 spikes, 7 blocks and 2 serves. It’s a great achievement for the young Malaysian player. He developed good chemistry with the team-setter and hit unstoppable spikes, which cruised past the opponents’ legs.
Endar Pratomo Febryanto – Indonesia
Indonesian Endar Pratomo Febryanto also proved his endeavour and settled for the 4th spot in best-scorer category. Fabryanto did a great job at hitting and blocking the ball. He penetrated some of the most terrific hits by opposite teams. He bagged 71 points in five-day tournament. Fabryanto produced 64 spikes and blocked 4 shots. He added three more points on account of serving the ball in perfect direction.
Sistin Nova Yuga DWI – Indonesia
Next up was another Indonesia player by the name of Sistin Nova Yuga DWI. The player wearing the number-3 shirt actually followed the footsteps of his teammate Febryanto and scored equal amount of points. Sistin achieved the mark 71 and shared the 4th spot with Fabryanto. Sistin built 71 points with 63 spikes and 8 blocks. He stayed near the attack line for most of times and attempted frequent attacks.
Grahari Ahmad – Indonesia
Another Indonesia hotshot joined the top-scorers of the tournament by touching the mark 57. The No. 2 player, Grahari Ahmed supported his team and helped the score with 36 spikes. Ahmed was an expert blocker and dismissed many of competitors’ attack attempts. He saved points and raised the score’s toll by 20 blocks. This is the maximum number of blocks in the top-10 list.
Yan Myo Hlaing – Myanmar
Yan Myo Hlaing of Myanmar scored 55 points, which included 45 spikes, 6 blocks and 4 serve points.
Chaiton Songkran – Thailand
The No. 3 player of Thai-force contributed 50 points by hitting 29 spikes, blocking 17 attack-attempts and scored 4 points with the help of nice serves.
Douglas-Powell Thomas Ewen – Australia
10th position in top-scorer list is captured by Australian Douglas-Powell, who scored 49 points. 9 blocks and 7 serve points are also attributed to Douglas.
