Russia tops Pool C
Russia fought the battle for supremacy in Pool C and it was joined by Australia, Cameron, and Puerto Rico. Palapanini Sports Hall in Modena facilitated the teams. Russia played the first match against Cameron on 25th September, 2010. Victory graced
Russia as they built a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, and 25-22). The victorious Russian team moved forward and took on Australia in second match on the next day. Australia couldn’t put up with the heavy strike of Russian hitters and lost the match. The final
score of the match was 3-1 (25-17, 25-12, 24-26, and 25-20).
Russia outplayed Puerto Rico in third match on 27th September, 2010. The pumped up Russian team launched their authority on Puerto Ricans and picked up 3-1 (21-25, 25-14, 25-21, 23-25, and 15-11) victory. Russia remained consistent in their approach
and bagged 6 points by winning three pool play matches. Russia jumped on the top spot in Pool C standings.
United States- Pool D Hero
Likewise, the U.S. team beat Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina in the first round. The five-set thriller between U.S. and Mexico on 25th September, 2010 amazed the local and international fans. Both teams staged a wonderful performance and the match
was full of uncertainty until the final moment. Unfortunately, Mexicans had to keep their hands off the victory in first match, while USA declared 3-2 (22-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, and 15-11) win.
The match against Venezuela on next day was relatively an easy task for USA. The energetic American studs shook up Venezuela in three straight sets and bagged another victory with the help of 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, and 25-19). The last match of first round on
27th September, 2010 saw Argentina and Australia in head-to-head fight. Argentina successfully captured two sets in the game but failed to stand in front of U.S spikes. The score of 3-1 (22-25, 27-25, 25-22, and 25-20), helped U.S. team to write
their name in the winner’s box. USA became the top team of Pool D and held the number 1 spot.
France victorious in Pool E
France earned good status in Pool E by overcoming the tough contenders in squad. Czech Republic, Bulgaria and China brought their best men to play in the FIVB Men’s World Championship. In the first match on 25th September, 2010 Czech Republic
confronted France. The breathtaking five sets were all full of fury. Somehow, France remained lucky and captured 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 24-26, and 15-10) conquest.
The next match against Bulgaria imitated the first match. Despite the fact that Bulgaria created a lot buzz in the game, France managed to steal victory, as Bulgaria tried its level-best to stop them from scoring points. France put 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-17,
28-30, and 19-17) on the scoreboard. Third match on 27th September, 2010 brought China in front of France. The charged up French team dismissed China by posting 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, and 25-19). France finished the first round with an overall score
of 6 and reserved the top slot.
Poland captures top spot in Pool F
Poland rose up from Pool F and proved to be the best team. The Polish team exhibited excellent game and turned many heads around. Teams from Canada, Germany and Serbia played against Poland in the first round. Nothing could stop Poland from going higher
in ranking. Poland finished the preliminary round with success and remained unbeaten.
