Question:

Volleyball spike approach?

I'm on a volleyball team outside of school, and my coach told me that the proper way to approach the ball was right left right. But, my coach from school(who has alot of experience with volleyball and has coached national teams before) said that the proper way is left right left. I can do both of the approaches, but I was just wondering which one is the proper way?

  1. If you're right handed it's L R L. And if your left handed it's R L R.

Trust me I understand, my middle school coach always told me wrong, but since I knew the right way I kept doing it correct during practice, and soon got better than all the girl's doing to a wrong approach.

  2. 3 step is the best. and its left right left if ur right handed

  3. its left right left but the last to steps are when you throw your feet and are facing DIRECTLY towards the setter...it should be a very fast, one right after the other.

  4. It's Left Right Left....Most experienced players use this format. Depending I guess on how you wanna spike it though, The four step one personally DOesnt do to well for me...

Try it out...Watever suits you the best, you should follow. :)

    Good luck

  5. If you are right handed, left right left should be easier. If you are left handed, it would be right left right.

  6. it all depends on if you are  left handed or  right handed. if you are  left handed you start with your right. and if you are right handed you start with your left foot.

  7. neither. depending on how old you are. if you are in college or varsity volley ball you should do the three step approach. however if u are not in either of those the four step approach would be best. also r u left or right handed? if u are right handed its left right left . if ur left handed its right left right. the four step approach is R L R L for rite handed ppl. and left handed ppl its L R L R

  8. I always do left right left. But I guess it doesn't really matter as long as your last 2 steps pound into the floor to give you more momentum.

  9. There isn't a specific correct Spiking approach. whic ever one you feel most comfprtable with, and gets you higher in the air, and lets you hit the ball harder.

    good luck! =]]

  10. left, right, left, jump, swing arms back, spike.  Yea, if you notcied my user name is bumpsetspike, i love volleyball and am very experienced with it, left, right, left is the proper and more affective way if you're a righty, if you're a lefty, it's right, left, right, or whichever you're more comfortable with.  I'm a lefty and I find that right, left, right is way easier and more powerful.  Have fun in volleyball!

    Peace

  11. It's either I heard.

I play too and I suck at spiking ha.

But it's whatever I think it's left right left

  12. Both are acceptable. One is usually for left-handed hitters; the other right.
