  1. In our volleyball tryouts, all we did was practice really.  We did a lot of drills.

To really impress the coach,  you could learn to do the rotations.  But find out which rotations you will have to learn first.

    Hope I helped.

  2. Every school and club's tryouts are different. However all tryouts will run drills that display each skill individually. We do passing, setting, hitting, serving, and (my favorite) blocking. Talk to some of the team's previous players or ask a coach what to expect.

To impress? Play the best you can. Don't try fancy tricks or overdoing it. Coaches know when you're putting on a show and when you're actually putting effort into what you're doing. Just do your best. Try not to be nervous. Relax, take a deep breath, and just play your game. Trust me, coaches will be impressed with self-confidence, self-respect, respect towards others, and a great attitude. You can have the best player in the world at a try out, but if they have a bad attitude or no respect, not a coach out there would take them. Play hard, have fun, and do your thing!

  3. In our school, we'll take anybody (b/c our school is small).  But if you really want to impress anybody - especially you coach, you should practice bumping the hardest serve/spike.   Have someone really good at spiking spike at you and you bump it back to her. When your arms get red, it should hurt.  But don't worry, when yout use to the spiking, it won't hurt as much.  (your arms may be red, but it won't hurt.)  Then at school, when your coach spike it to you, you'll be able to bump it to your setter without a problem.

  4. in our volleyball try-outs... we had after-school practices. i pretty much learned to be always on time(better if earlier). chat with your future teammates. practice with them. but don't impress them with just your athletic prowness. show your academic skills as well.

    practice practice practice.

sometimes you'll have practice games as well. it would be better to show your best there.

  5. well...in my school we had to be there on time(if we were late it costs EVERYBODY extra laps, sprints, or wallsits depends on how the coach was feeling).  Being on time anywhere is very important because that's there first impression of you.  We teach people how to do the basics because people might come in to learn because they are interested(mainly freshmen do this).  It lasts about 4-5 days from early morning to mid afternoon(you can barely walk after the first day, especially going up and down the stairs!!!).  We do the basics: bump, set, spike, serve, run(a lot).  It really depends on how good your school team is because the better, the more competitive and harder to get it.  If you can, ask somebody to tell you how they go so you can be prepared.  Don't be like others that go to tryouts in jeans or skirts because that's just plain retarded!  Be nice to everyone and always have an open mind.  Good Luck!!!

  6. I never went out of my way to impress the coaches...I played as hard in practice as I did in a game...that was enough to grab the attention of the coaches. You do in practice what you do in a game.  That was my coaches motto. Don't fool around, Go out play your heart out and the rest will take care of itself.

Make sure your passing skills are good.....learn to hit deep....cross court....tool the block...and have more then one type of serve...a floater and something with some spin and pace on it.

    Good Luck
