  1. Do plyos, and every chance you get pepper with a friend.Or hit against a wall.time will make you better.

  2. practice servingoverhand

and bumping(passing) the ball to the same spot everytime

  3. The basics are good for starters. If this is your first year, try everything because a Good coach will Tell you what position you are best suited for, you don't get to just "pick". I didn't begin playing volleyball until my 9th grade year of highschool and I am now a Division 2 volleyball player, and wait .. i STARTED, as a freshmen, which in most colleges is Unheard of. So please, take my advice and work on your Overhead serve, your jumping skills, and when you pass, wrists down, shoulders tucked. There's many skills you'll learn as the years go on. Sprints are best because you don't run long distance in volleyball, its about being quick to the ball. BEST OF LUCK<3, let me know if you need more help!

  4. I was in my eight grade volleyball team. IN fact i am graduating eighth grade this year. Wat I suggest to do is get a really fast and strong underhand serve first. Dont worry about overhand it is just middle school. Being able to serve over hand and in exact location should come after underhand serving.

in a recent question I answered

"set up a net. (in my case just got a string and ran it from my garage to my house because they are parallel.) Or a stick and a string to use as a net. Then get a friend to gently underhand serve it. try and set it right in front of the net when it comes to your side. since there is a lot of space to cover this helps with you getting to the ball and setting it right in front of the net.

If you want things that you can do alone try setting to a specific spot for aim, push ups to help your arm, and setting it stationary.

Also make sure you can differentiate in power of you sets so you can have different types of spikes. that is if you are trying to set for the spiker.

    AND REAL GAMES HELP!"

That helps but I dont think u will be assigned a spot in eigth grade so get ready to do it all.

Work on your bumps too. its not in the swing of teh arms AT ALL. its is in the bend of the knees.. watch videos and correct your form. From there you need to work on getting under the ball. having a net or someone to practice with really helps. Also the string in my case.

WHEN TRYING OUT you need to be confident so work on looking cool.

    oh..

AND CALL IT OUT "I GOT IT!"

  5. WELL IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT POSITION YOUR TRYING OUT FOR. IF YOUR A HITTER DO JUMPING EXERCISES BECAUSE A WAY A HITTER CAN GET NOTICED IS BY THE HEIGHT OF THERE JUMP. IF YOUR A SETTER WORK ON BALL CONTROL BECAUSE THE BETTER THE CONTROL THE BETTER THE HIT FOR YOUR TEAM THERE IS THIS DRILL WHERE YOU LIE ON YOUR BACK AND HOLD YOUR HANDS ABOVE YOUR HEAD AND SET THE BALL STRAIGHT UP IT WORKS TO. IF YOUR TRYING OUT FOR LIBERO WORK ON QUICKNESS BECAUSE THE LESS YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE FLOOR THE BETTER RUN SPRINTS FOR AN IDEA COACHES LIKE QUICK LIBEROS. HOPE I HELPED. GOOD LUCK

  6. Practice serving overhand and passing the ball to a target.  Get really good at these skills and you'll be invaluable to the team.
