I'm coaching a grade 9 OR grade 10 (JV) girls school volleyball team this fall (the school gave me a choice of teams and i'm not sure which i'm coaching yet), and I need to brush up on some of the drills that I know of. I've played volleyball all the way through junior high (middle school) and high school, so I know of the most common ones. I also coach a grade 7&8 girls club team, but I think some of those drills are going to be too easy.
Are there any drills that you particularly like, or that are very good for developing skills/looking at the players' skills, both for tryouts and practices?
What kind of skill level is/was your grade 9 volleyball team at? Examples: rotation (5-1, 4-2, 6-2), setter capability (can they set fairly well/backset), did anyone play libero, and anything else that you may find helpful to tell me.
Thanks!
