I'm going into 7th grade and it will be my first year playing volleyball (for the school)... tryouts are during the middle of the summer and the coach I'm trying out for is really strict so ill really have to impress him to get onto the Varsity team, which is what I'm aiming to do. Any ideas on what i could do to train or improve?

thanks!

  1. i am in high school and i play volleyball.  the first thing i want to say is dont go for varsity.  try going for modified or junior varsity before going for the top, especially if it is your 1st year.  to improve, get together with your friends and practice daily, practice always makes perfect.  also, have faith and tell yourself you can do it, because you can!  and another hint of advise i have for you is during try-outs, be outgoing and friendly.  coaches will pick someone who has a good attitude over someone who is mean and unfriendly.

  2. make sure u have a good serve cuz serves can win u the game

  3. You can try to hit the ball over the net then if it come back to you spike it and you will make the team.

  4. Well i know exactly how you feel.

I didnt know a dang thing about volleyball when i went into open gyms. I went because of my friends and i ended up loving the sport and the only friend to make the team.

You need to practice serving, at my school we only can serve overhand, so we HAD to pracitce alot on serving. You need to bump the ball. Whether you are bumping it to a wall and keep bumping or bumping with a friend or family member.

You need to be aggressive. Dig after the ball and get on the floor and bump the volleyball up.

    Good Luck!

  5. I am in the 7th grade now and I made my School volleyball team and the countys Travel ELITE team.  The BEST thing to do at a try out is to come in with a possitive attitude!  Cheer on the others trying out (coachs love players with a good attitude)  If your coach asks the girls trying out what possition they play the BEST response is WHERE EVER YOU WANT ME COACH!  Even if your strongest possiton is setter(or where ever you play)  you coach will see that durring practices.  A way to keep your game up durring the summer is going to a racket ball court or even the wall on your house and measuring 7ft 4in.  Mark it with tape and try serving over it. Or passing to your self over the line.  (THIS WORKS SO WELL)

    I hope i helped

    GOOD LUCK AT THE TRYOUT!!

  6. just to practice a lot
