  1. To make i team you have to know the basics

    - serving (overhand)

    -passing/digging (really well)

    -setting

    -hitting

Also make sure you know what position you want to play and it would be a good idea to learn everything you can about that position and practice that really really hard.

I dont think you have to be in any particular shape i am kinda overweight but i can make a team (it is harder because they do tend to look over people who are not physically fit so i would suggest just doing basic exercises and strengthening specific volleyball muscles)

Something else to think about at tryouts is go all out. Call the ball-LOUD! and be aggressive competitive and coach-able

Also know the lingo know all volleyball terms so you can understand reffs, the game, and other players

  2. you have to know how to serve a ball and spike it it is the most imprtant they look at that the most.... passing is alos imporatant

like my cousin is a volleyball coach ans she said that there was this girl and she had the best passes and setts but her serves werent amazing and she had to cut her she said that she wants her back for next year and that she wants her to work on them so she can come play for her so ya

  3. you definitely have to know just the basic skills bumping, setting, spike. i'm not sure about serving, there are different ways to serve and it takes some people a while to finally get it over the darn net. Also have control over the ball, shout out if you have the ball, crouch down loww and be agressive!! coaches hate to see people that are afraid of the ball u kno? you'll be fine, get into shape and good luck!!

  4. Unless you are playing on a men's team, your net will be at 7'4 and 1/8"...so don't get too stressed over the eight foot statement above. If you have played at all before, the skills are not new... but if this is the first time you have played and you are trying out for HS ball, you have some work to do and fast!

Find someone you know who has played before at the high school level, and ask them what tryouts are like. You will need to go through all of the basic skills: serve, pass, set, spike, to let the coaches see where you are at.  If you have never played before, you need to look for open gyms or clinics right away or you will be in over your head at a high school tryout...

    good luck!

  5. the main things are bumping and serving. you need good ball control and a good strong consistent serve. If you can hit and jump high, thats even better. Also ball control when bumping is a good thing that couches look at. you should be in good shape with really strong thighs. strong abs are important too. In try outs, never show weakness. If your tired just keep up a good attitude. be sure to keep yourself hydrated to be a your best physical performance. WHen at home, to get in shape, Jog, do push ups, wall sides, squats, and crunches or sit ups. Well I hope you

  6. You have to be able to jump and jump high. The net is 8 feet and to be a successfull blocker you have to get the better part of all your hand over the top of the net. Plus the higher you can jump the greater the angle of your spike. Serving is important too. Gotta serve over hand and be consistent. It's better to serve them the same every time and get them over the net, then to have one or two really hard ones that they miss, and the rest hit the net. Know what I mean? You also need to figure out if you are a setter or a hitter. Then hone in on those skills to be better.  If this is your first year, try watching the college girls play. Don't watch the sand volleyball players, even though they are outstanding at the sport , the two players will play much differently than 6 will on a court. Hope I've helped!
