I was on the team last year, but now I am SOO scared I won't make the team. What are some ways I can really WOW the coach to ensure she picks me? Or how do I calm myself down?

  1. Take ddfoxx's advice. There is alot in there, and also, just prove that you belong on the team. You made it last year, and you can make it this year. One last thing to do: Show the improvement you made by being on the team last year, and use the skills the taught/ helped you learn.

    Goodluck!!!

  2. if you were on the team last year, you should be pretty confident enough to make it again.  but i think the best way to impress a good coach, is to not only show skill, but to show incredible sportsmanship.  try to help your other teammates out when theyre having trouble, and be energetic.  looking like a leader or a quick learner with great potential is always good.

  3. Here are some ways that you can wow the coach.  First all coaches are looking for the vocal player, so be loud and motivate the players.  Second they want someone who is not afraid to dive for a ball.  They also want you to give it your all the whole time your on the court.  Last thing, and this is for you, you have to be coinfident that you are good enough to make the team.

  4. don't be scared and play your best

  5. you probably know at least some of the other players trying out, their strengths and weaknesses.  are you particularly strong in any area?  if you can stand out in a particular aspect of the game - especially if the team is relatively weak at it, say blocking, the coach will have to think really hard about cutting you.  also i would have to say based on my experience the single most important skill is passing - a great passing and digging team is incredibly hard to beat, no matter how weak their offense might be.  other than that HUSTLE always show maximum (controlled) effort as much as you can...encourage others on the court after good or bad plays.  volleyball is a very emotional game - if you can keep your team up its always to your advantage.  one of the best ways to do this is constantly speak up on the court - calling it when its your pass, how many hitters, short, out, tip, anything to keep the team together.  youd be surprised how many games are lost becuase people get discouraged and stop talking.

another thing to help show your drive is to be the last one to leave, if you can stay after to practice with others or the coach if possible.

good luck, please post what happens.
