  1. This is what I told another girl and this is the same thing I am going to tell you....Make sure that you are careful...kneepads are a good way to protect your knees in case you dive for a ball. Serve overhand behind the line and make sure that you have a good toss. Then when you come in contact with the ball, your hand should be fully extended and the ball should hit in the middle of the palm of your hand. Make sure you point your shoulders and hit it hard, but not too hard to where it goes out and you give the other team a point.

When it comes to passing, make sure you are down in ready position at all times during a game...ready position is when you bend your knees and without moving your hand should be able to touch the floor. This might hurt for a little while, but you will get used to it. Point your shoulders to your setter and don't swing. Just let the ball come to you and just bump it over to where it needs to go.

For hitting, make sure you have a good three step approach....you'll learn this if you haven't already. Then make sure you swing and put force behing the ball. Swing somewhat down so that the ball doesn't go out.

If you have an interest in becoming a setter....let me know and I'll help you out with that as well. I am a DS (Defensive Specialist) which is just a fancy way of saying a good passer. That is what I know most about if you want to become a libero or something.

For the first few days or even weeks, you are going to be REALLY SORE!! Just use warm/hot water and let the sore part soak for about 20 minutes. I like using a heating pad...you could try that! Make sure you drink lots of water and do lots of stretching to prevent some of the soreness. I hope you make the team! Good Luck!

  2. You should have good balence, a good understanding for the game, know all the moves, and love the game.

    Hope this helps. Good Luck

  3. while playing keep in your tip-toes, being out of balance you can easily start moving towards the ball.

Get some knee pads, and run in your tip-toes so you can warm up your legs.

  4. There are to many things to remember all at once so start with the basics. When passing do not swing your arms. Your legs (foundation) always aim toward the ball and your arms (platform) adjust to where you want the ball to go (target). You bend your knees and when passing the ball "push" it with your legs to the target. Take a look at this site: http://volleyball.org/playing/index.html... It will help you with the basics. Good Luck!

  5. Stretch out good. That way you aren't sore for days after. Then always bee moving don't stand still. Don't get caught watching what is going on because you won't be ready if the ball comes to you. When you bump the ball don't swing your arms try to keep them level and then make sure you get low while bumping that way you will only have to move your legs to go up while bumping. [[if that made any sense]] lol but keep a positive attitude. Dont say you can't Focus on the positives and not the negatives. Have funn with it.

    Hope you do well! =]
