Volleyball tryouts (help!)?

I have volleyball tryouts on monday and i have never played before. what can i do to get ready? i am short (5'1") and i have been told i am a good setter and i have strong serves. also, we are running the mile, how can i prepare for that?

  1. First of all bring plenty of water because the coach is probaly gonna have yall run alot.

    Jog the whole time and at the end push your hardest to finish in an okay time. Umm make sure you're stretched... also you can practice running it. Trust me it would help you lots.  

    As for volleyball it self not anything to do with running. Practice passing with a ball(bumping). When you're serving make sure you put forward your dominite foot then hit the ball with your hand. I'm sure you know how to do that!

  2. well first of all good luck u will need good shoes (i recomend mizuno or asics) you will need knee pads (again mizuno or asics), spandex (any brand is good), and bring lots of water. go to tryouts with determination and work your hardest on everything

  3. k well here is the thing. i have volleyball tryouts on monday too.and yeah i am nervous. and i have been playing for a select team. u are going to be nervous. but dont let that get to u. when u are on the court that will mess u up. so just be like its u and the ball and that is it. and as for the shortness i am 5'3. and yeah that is short to be a outside hitter but i have a great vertical to be that short. and if u dont know how to spike that dam ball. then get fancy with it. and tip it over. in a corner. and be sneaky with it. then the coaches will be like yeah she is short but she is makin the best of it. u know what im saying. now as far as the mile goes yeah we have to do that to. now dont get me wrong i am in shape. but there is a difference to conditioning. and running a mile. espeacially when u have a time limit. so i mean. on the mile. just start off at a consitent pace. and if those two laps. are slow then u are gonna have to sprint the last two. but if u know ur makin good time. then just cruise to the finish line.

    and as far as this weekend. nothing but water. and light food. like salad. dont pigout on pizzas.and stuff like that.k

  4. Everything sounds OK to me (serves, setting), the heck is the problem ? You don't know how to run the mile ? You just run ! Nothing to it

  5. im an 8th grader and im not even 5 foot yet lol. But it doesn't matter if ur short or not.Anyways if u want 2 be prepaired u should just keep practicing thats what i did and i made the team.Hope i helped and good luck on making the team!!!!!!

  6. i have volleyball tryouts on monday too!! it doens't matter how tall you are but how high you can jump!!! practice jumping as high as you can for 5 minutes every day till tryouts and also practice things like lunges and wall sits to get your legs in shape

    also to get in shape for running , run around your block every day... i run a little more each day and now i can run 2 miles without getting tired!!!

    coaches are looking for somebody who's loud and calls the ball so be sure to always yell!!

    be sure to also dive for every ball'

    this will show the coach you are determined !!!

    bring lots of water and give it 100%
