I feel like I should have a positive attitude, but I think my chances for my freshmen tryouts of getting in are slim.... what are things that catch the coaches attention?

  1. Ok look im in volleyball to definatly CALL THE BALL say stuff like, I GOT IT I GOT IT and ITS MINE and MINE then the coach will pay attention stay low and be close with your teammates be a leader they always love that hope i help

  2. Alexa,

After you have taken all the great advice in the answers above mine, go talk to the coach. Tell her how much you want to be on the team. Do you want to develop your skills to the point you can get a volleyball scholarship to college? Talk about that. Tell the coach how much you are willing to do to improve your skills. Even if they say no, go improve your skills and try out the next time. Be passionate, determined, and unrelenting about volleyball.

  3. nice spikes. that will DEFINITELY catch their attention. i got the attention of one of hte coaches with my spiking and serving and he said "i've got my eye on you. you're going to be my superstar!!" it was an awesome feeling.

and if you cant do that, then just go for absolutely EVERY ball. i'm not even kidding. if its 10 feet away from you and no one else can get there, DIVE!! just get to the floor, cause a ruckus, and she'll see that you're very determined to get to the ball and that you're serious about htis.

  4. Is the Coach Male or Female? I guess it doesn't matter.

    Play Topless! LOL!

Seriously, practice at a beach in the sand. My Dad and I used to win two man Volleyball competitions at office parties all the time and he is 32 years older than I am. h**l, I couldn't beat him in Tennis until he was around 65.

This is what he taught me:

Don't think about the pain until after you have made the play.

I hate playing Volleyball on Hardwood but go for the play no matter what it takes. If you burn up your elbows making a save, give yourself a few seconds to absorb the pain, shake it off and get up and get back in the game. If you are bleeding and pretend not to notice then the coach will pull you out of practice to heal up for the next game.

Be tough. Don't ever let them see you in pain!
