i started off the summer really good- one of hte top passers on my team.

well, before tryouts, me and my friends went to florida, and when i got back, i completely lost my pass.

i'm starting to get it back agian, but i'm pretty sure my coach is considering JV instead of varsity for me.

I KNOW i have the potiental for varsity. i know i do! my pass is coming back- i'm getting better at free balls and most of the balls hit i get up.

our last day of tryouts is tommorow, and she asked me to attend the JV and varsity session. What can i do to prove to her im varsity worthy? :( talk to her, or what? please help. i'm stressing out, so much.

the same thing happened to me. except no lie- it took me a couple of yrs to get it back (i finally figured it all out).

but i think you can get it back a lot quicker.

its a question i asked a long time ago similar to yours.

gordon morrison gave be a good answer- as did some others.

turns out i did make a  few slight changes.

tips:(tsome may seem obvious but you might not notice if you are not doing it)

    1. make sure you are low and your weight is on your toes and balls of your feet

    2. watch the ball completely into your arms. do not assume you are going to contact it.

3.make sure your thumbs are parrallel and pressed together(idk why exactly- but this helped my pass)

    4. make sure your platform is flat and pressed down(stiff), - w/ your shoulders "rolled over"

    5. remember that you are "passing" not "bumping" -YOU are changing the direction of the ball, not just letting it bounce off.

    6. when balls are being hit  take ankle hops or shuffles to the right or left, shuffle back, or run forward.

sometimes a small prehop before passing a ball helps you "focus in"

& your coach is at least considering you for varsity. thats good, all you can do is alway try your hardest, listen carefully to what she says, encourage& talk to your teammates( even the older ones), help younger players w/ their skills some, etc.

    && remember

where you start the season is not necessarily where you're going to end up. :]

    good luck.

  2. I've never heard of someone losing a skill after going on a vacation. Weird. Keep practicing and maybe try to stop stressing so much. When you put too much stress on a certain skill, it's normal to mess up that skill.

If she thinks you need to stay on JV, that might be the better choice. You would probably get more playing time and more experience so you can let your skills develop more and have a better season on Varsity next year. She might even use you as an alternate for Varsity. When I was a freshman, the Varsity Coach used me as an alternate and took me to state with the team. I even got to play a little because one of the girls couldn't keep it together.

  3. I think you should try your hardest and practice a lot.  Maybe see if any of your family or friends will help you by being a target and throwing you the ball to hit to them.  I hope this helps. :)

    GOOD LUCK!
