  1. Stretch. A lot.

It sounds like you're already a good volleyball player, so I'll skip that advice.

As for the sprints, the only thing you can do is practice.

Time yourself. Set a goal. Work on your sprints every day.

The day of the tryouts, eat light.

During our tryouts, sprints were the last thing we did because our coach wanted to see how fast we could run even after playing volleyball for 3 hours. If sprints are the last thing you do, run like there's no tomorrow. Just keep thinking, "I can rest AFTER the sprints." Run like the world is coming to an end. And focus on your goal. If sprints are not last, run as fast as you can, but don't tire yourself out. Speed is an added bonus for a volleyball team. The coaches will care about your skills more, and if you're too tired after the sprints to play well, you probably will not make the team, no matter how fast you are.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Do the drills. . .

I used to serve the ball over a net, then sprint to get the ball.  I used sprinting in a lot of my drills I did myself, and I would also do them in the backyard.

I don't think you will really need to worry about the sprints.  Coaches aren't going to cut you if you are awesome at the skills, but a little slow in the sprints.  There isn't a lot of sprinting in volleyball - it is used to judge leg strength and endurance.

    Good luck!

  3. you should try to work on stamina.  like do bleachers or a different type of running.  like try doing a mile but sprinting the straight aways and jogging the corners.  or you could do some agility training.  it helps.  trust me

  4. make your leg muscles stronger.

my vball team went to a speed school where all there did was make our leg muscles stronger and we all improved very well

try squats and wall sits, lunges and when you sprint, arm movement and staying closer to the ground helps

  5. Try running up and down bleachers.  When we start our season, we do a lot of bleachers and ladder agility drills.

  6. Find a close friend and practice together. Set up your competition with stop watch, and you will always want to get better once numbers start working.

  7. I have tryouts for High School  coming up sooon too! What I do is practice with a friend and learn the moves I really don't understand. You could run, jog, workout (crunches/pushups) daily to keep yourself fit and ready. Just try to do your best during tryouts.
