Volleyball update: Review of third day of AVC Continental Beach Volleyball Cup in Chinese Taipei (Part 2)
Second match
The second match on the final day of AVC Continental Sub Zonal Tournament saw Japan 1 and Chinese Taipei 2 facing each other. The match was played on Sunday, December 26, 2010 in Kaohsiun, Chinese Taipei. Team Japan 1 comprised of Shinako Tanaka and Sayaka
Mizoe, while Hsieh Pei Shan and Liu Pi Hsin were labelled as Chinese Taipei 2. The match was opened with an exchange of strong serves and long rallies were staged. Players of both teams seemed full of ambition and played with great temperament. Japanese duo
started the hard-hitting but the Taipei players were in unique reception position. They not only returned the ball, rather scored points by killing Japanese spikes. Chinese Taipei helped the early points on scoreboard and continued with success. The home duo
performed amazingly well and took the score to the verge of victory and ultimately worked out 21-18 victory in the first set.
The victory in first set allowed Chinese Taipei to open the second set with confident hits. Japan was dragged under pressure and they committed too many unforced errors. The duo of Hsieh Pei Shan and Liu Pi Hsin jumped on every opportunity and hit the ball
in gaps, demonstrating a wonderful game and received huge applause from audience. They attained the perfect rhythm and tone to claim second set of the match. Japan suffered the big blow and lost the set by receiving 12-21. Chinese Taipei pulled off success
in the second match of the day against Japan.
Third match
After losing the first match to Japan 2 in morning, the pairing of Kou Nai Han and Chang h*i Min (Chinese Taipei 1) clashed with Japan 1’s Shinako Tanaka and Sayaka Mizoe in the third match. The loss of first set totally raged up Chinese Taipei’s team and
they attacked opponents aggressively. Revenge was the order of the match. Moreover, the fans also charged up the home duo with their cheers and encouraging slogans. Taipei’s team improved on passing and worked out good points. Japanese hit back strongly and
created trouble for hosts. However, Kou Nai Han found the rare gaps in Japan’s half and rolled off the ball will full power of her forearms. The scoreboard showed the better status of Chinese Taipei and victory graced them in the first set (21-17).
The second set also came successful for Chinese Taipei. They continued with their incredible spiking and digging skills. The home players dominated the opponents and hindered Japan’s performance. The visitors’ squad struggled to attain stability but rival
side heavily influenced them. Chinese Taipei’s team picked up the lead stretching the gap of points. Japan couldn’t defend its position and slipped the second straight set from their hands 15-21.
Fourth match
The pumped up Japanese duo of Satoko Urata and Takemi Nishibori (JPN2) came across the pair of Kou Nai Han and Chang h*i Min (Chinese Taipei 1) in third match of the day. The home team staged a shaky performance and failed to create any spark in first set.
They could only help 6 points in the set, while Japanese duo hit the finish line. They dug up success by scoring 21-6 in first set. The explosive spiking of Satoko Urata and Takemi Nishibori didn’t allow Chinese Taipei to gain any status in the game. Japanese
team finished the second set with 21-11 victory.
Men’s section
The men’s duos of Japan outplayed their rivals in all four matches on the final day. They finished with a score 4-0 and settled for title of Sub Zonal Tournament in Chinese Taipei. Japan clinched gold-ware in both men and women’s categories.
