Volleyball update: The 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship reaches the semi-final stage
The 16th edition of FIVB Women’s World Championship has successfully covered two flights and brought out amazing results. At the end of second round on Wednesday, 10th November, 2010, the defending champions Russia, top-form Brazil,
hosts Japan, and United States settled for the semi-finals, which are scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 13. The Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan will be the host of influential semi-final combats. In the first semi-final, Russia will take
on their arch rivals from United States. This match is surely expected to create a lot buzz as both contenders have their eyes on the title trophy. Likewise, the second semi-final on the same day will bring Japan and Brazil in the court. This is also a much
awaited match as the local enthusiasts are saving their time to watch the spectacular performance of home-team.
Russia – The top contender
The Russian team is defending the title and the squad is fully prepared to secure it for another year. The team is headed by Vladimir Kuzyutkin who is a great strategy maker. The head coach defined a clear dimension for team in the FIVB Women’s World Championship
and led them to success. Russian team is staying on top at the moment; they finished the first round of the championship with an overall score of 5-0. They performed in a brilliant way and didn’t let anybody to hinder their performance. The team played 5 matches

and qualified for the semi-final.
Brazil’s story
The Brazilian team has proved its metal in every aspect of the game at the FIVB Women’s World Championship in Japan. The superb attack capability and strong defence enabled Brazil to push everyone behind. The team has one of the finest players like Natalia
Pereira and Sheilla Castro who have scored the maximum points in the tournament. Brazil demonstrated a flawless performance and completed the two rounds of championship with a score of 7-0. They managed to get away with every hurdle in the game and maintained
their winning streak. The Brazilian squad is tipped to capture the Women’s World Championship this year. On account of their stellar performance, they deserved to get a slot in the semi-finals and they did it.
The Host Nation Japan
Japan is the prestigious host of this wonderful event. The Japanese team got full advantage of home soil and the emotional support of local fans. In addition, they put a great effort and played with an ambition to seize the title trophy. Japan was the pool
