  1. it means the servering team has 6 points and the other team has two

  2. The first number means the number of hitters and the second means the number of setters.

I will start with the 4-2.  There are 4 hitters and your 2 different setters.  The setters usually play opposite each other.  The setter that is in the front row will do the setting to the 2 other players that are in the front row.  Usually, the setter goes into the middle although not always.

Then there is the 5-1.  There are 5 hitters and 1 person that will set the entire time they are on the court.  When the setter is in the front row, it will resemble the 4-2 since there are 2 hitters and 1 setter.  Usually, the setter sets from the right side.  When the setter is in the back row, there are 3 hitters in the front row.  The setter sets from a spot just to the right of middle if you are looking from the service position.

The 6-2 uses 6 hitters and 2 different setters.  The setter that is in the back row will do the setting.  That way, there are always 3 hitters in the front row.  The setter will set from the spot just to the right of the middle hitter.  Then, they will switch to right back to play defense.  And move back and forth during the play from right back to the front row.

If this confuses you or if you want more information, please email me.

  3. ok a 6-2 is when you have 2 setters on the court and a 5-1 is when you have only one setter on the court because when you have a 5-1 it is like you only have 5 players cuz the setter doesn't go for any ball but a 6-2 is when either setter can go for the ball at any time cuz you alwayse have a setter open

    i hope this helps you

  4. a 6-2 has nothing to do with the score!  It is a play in volleyball!  It means that out of the six players that you have on the court you have 2 setters.......but setter 2 is the back up setter!  This play is not often played by junior varsity players or new players that are new to the sport!

  5. it's when  all 6 people on the court can hit, and 2 setters

    so 6 hitters, 2 setters

    6-2

  6. It's basically a rotation.

The court should look like this:

    Front row:

Right side hitter    Middle Blocker    Left side hitter

    Left back               Middle back         Setter

Everyone is opposite of each other, but this is just the rotation, not base. Base is where the right side hitter is on the right side, and the left side hitter is on the left. That way there are 2 hitters, 2 middles, and 2 setters(the setter in back row is the primary setter while the setter in front row acts as a back up but plays right side hitter until she reaches back row).

Then when you keep rotating you just switch to your base with whoever needs to get to theirs.

It's kinda hard to explain, wikipedia can help.

  7. It just means that that out of the 6 players on the court, 2 of them are setters.  They take turns setting.  Whoever is back row is the setter and the other usually playes right side.  Then when the other setter goes back row, they set.
