Question:

Volleyball workout???

I have tryouts in about 5 weeks, what should i do to prepare?? (not the actual moves like serving and such, just things to get me physically ready) besides running of course, things i can do in a room w/ as little equipment as possible. thanks!! and how long will it take b4 i see results from the traning?? (with healthy eating) i am 15.

  1. -abs...lots of them

    -wall sits

    -push ups

    -stretch alot

    -lift weights if you can


  2. lots lots lots lots of ab and core workouts....and plenty of pushups

    and if you can get into a gym and use weight equipment, it will really help

  3. wall sits (for passing)

    pushups (for fingertips of setting) (arm strength for hitting)

    plank (same as above)

    biking (again, strong quads)

  4. well you already know running

    ~jump rope.. it will help with vertical jumping and get you conditioned well

    ~pushups

    ~situps

    ~lunges/wall sits since you are basically squating during a whole volleyball game

    ~also if you hae anthing study enough to jump onto (chair, stool, foot rest, stair) anything high enough you could do 10 rep and maybe like 3 sets to also work on jumping

  5. Jump rope (really helps on your vertical)

    Run stairs instead of regular running

    Pushups

    Lift weights

  6. Push Ups (arm strength) but try pushing with your arms pointing strait not out because this will work the arms for hitting and serving. I dont know what this is called but you stand feet forward one behind the other (like when you stretch out the calves) Lower your back knee to the ground and PUSH up. swap legs after you jump up and repeat for a while.. this will improve your jumps massively.sit ups for core strength and abdominals help every bit of movement in the body. Skipping (or pogo sticking) will also help. i also lift 5 kg arm weights, they also inprove your hitting.

  7. ever heard of the plyometric (not sure if i spelled it right). it's a series of workouts to strenghten ur leg muscles especially ur quads n calfves. it could improve ur jumping explosive power, too.

    some of the exercises are:

    1. knee-tuck jump 10reps x 3 sets

    2. box jump (jump over diff heights of boxes)

    3. one-leg jump (see if u can reach the spike line from baseline in 3-4 jumps) x 10 reps.

    4. two-leg jump (same like No. 3 and swing ur arms to assist the jumps.

    5. 6 metre shutter run (4-6 reps x 10 sets)

    6. squats (this is supposed to be at the top of ur list!).

    and if u are running at the track, borrow 4 or 5 hurdles from the athletic coach and line them up a metre apart from each other and jump over them one by one (immediately jump again once ur feet touch the ground).
