  1. they have 5 seconds to serve the ball they need 21pts to win but they need to win by 2 and they need to win atleast 2 out of 3 to win a match

  2. 1> names of each position:

    MH: Middle Hitter

    MB: Middle Blocker

    DS: Defensive Specialist

    L: Libero

    OPP: Opposite Hitter

2> What is a foot fault?

When a server touched the end line or stepped into the court before contacting the ball, it is a foot fault.

    3> What is rally scoring?

It is contract to the "old" side-out scoring. Whenever the ball stopped moving, a point got awarded to the team that won the rally or to the opponent of the team that had a fault.

In old days (side-out scoring) only the serving team can score and the receiving team had to win a side-out before becoming eligible to score.

4> When is it legal or illegal for a ball to touch the net?

It is always legal for the ball to touch the net, including the ball came out of server. The only exception would be when the ball touched the part of the net between a sideline and the nearby net pole.

5> How many seconds does a team have to serve the ball?

Five seconds between the whistle and the serve contact. When there is a clean attempt (drop the ball outside the court without swing and contact), another serve is granted with five seconds between the whistle and the serve contact.

6> How many points does a tem need to win a game?

    Tough question.

In NCAA, it is 30 points per game with 2 points margin, with 15 points for deciding set.

International games go by 25 points, but some others go by 21 points or 15 points, some even go by 17 points. All these are with two points margin but sometimes with a cap.

7> How many games does a team need to win a match?

    Again a touch question.

High-level games including NCAA and international are best of 5, which means a team needs to win three games to win the match. Lower level games are organized with best of 3, when a team wins a match with two games.

  4. Chrissy and Dan_Ye have all the answers.  I would just like to add a difference.

In the NFSHSA (junior high and high school) rules, you are allowed 5 seconds to serve and you are allowed a re-serve if you catch or let the ball hit.

In USAV (club), NCAA, and FIVB (international) rules, you are allowed 8 seconds and you are only allowed one toss.  In USAV, the 14 and younger tournaments will have 5 seconds to serve and must let the ball hit to get a re-serve.

  5. Right Back(Opposite/Setter)

    Middle Back(Defensive Specialist/Libero)

    Left Back(Left Back)

    Left Front(Outside Hitter)

    Middle Front(Middle Blocker)

    Right Front(Setter/Opposite)

A foot fault is when the server steps on or over the service line while serving.

Rally Scoring is the scoring system in which teams score points independent of which team served the ball. As opposed to the Side Out scoring system where a team can only score a point if that team served the ball. A game in rally scoring goes up to 25 points where as in Side Out the game is over at 15 points.

The ball is legal to touch the net at all times and is even playable if it bounces off the net. This includes let serves.

The teams has 5 secs to serve the ball, although I have never seen this enforced.

In Rally Scoring the first team to 25 points wins. If the game is tied at 24-24, in order to win, a team must win by two points.

Real matches consist of 5 games. So the first team to win 3 games wins the match. Often in tournements this is sortened to best out of 3 games. As a side note... in 5 game matches the last game, if needed is only to 15 points not 25 points. The same goes for the 3rd game in a 3 Game match.
