i do really good hitting outside, but when i hit backrow, they arent good. like i hit them, and they wont go across the net, or they will just go out.

what can i do to make them go over and not go out, or go straight down?

  1. do a hard hit but a soft hard hit

  2. The key to put topspin in the ball.  Topspin will drive the ball sharply downward as it goes over the net.

There is no other special way of doing it but just using the proper arm swing will do it.

    Below are few tips:

    1.  The hitting arm is drawn back(bow and arrow) with the elbow above and behind your shoulder and your palm facing away from your head.

    2. First rotate your elbow toward the direction you'r hitting and then snap your elbow fully straightening your arm and as you make contact with the ball, snap your wrist.  Also, don't forget to fully follow through.

You use the same armswing technique for front and back row hitting and top spin serves.  The only difference is the location of the set.  When hitting front row, keep the ball infront of you.  For back row, slightly closer to you.  And for serving, even closer or almost above your head.

The best drill for developing good armswing is hitting the ball against the wall.  Good Luck.

  3. when i hit backrow i do a roll, you no what that is right? so it goes down really short.

  4. The key to hitting backrow effectively is to make sure that your arm is fully extended (hit the ball at your highest point) and then to snap your wrist over the ball. This should help to ball to go over and go in the court.

  5. it means that u r snaping your wrists a lot (which is a good thing for front row players) when you play back row, its kinda like a serve. thats all that i think of when i hit it (cuz i play back row too)

  6. When you hit the ball try to hit it with you're finger tips.
