  1. The Chevy Volt is going to be a plug-in gas/electric hybrid, not a fully electric car.  It will go approximately 40 miles purely on electric power after each recharge, then work as a gas/electric hybrid after that.

It's supposed to cost about $30,000 and be available at the end of 2010.

  2. Where does this electric car get the electricity it uses to charge its batteries?

Probably from either coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydroelectric, and yes, even a small percentage of "renewable resources" of electricity - wind and solar...

  3. A very long time, as per Ralph Nader opines in Who Killed The Electric Car, the pubic is being suckered.

Check out electric car conversions that you can buy from 5K-15K today. No waiting for a giant corporation:

  4. 2010, probably the model year will be 2011.

It is a fully electric car, but it has an on board generator. That's important because it allows for innovation, and can vastly reduce the number of mechanical parts.

Electricity is the most universal power source.

Lutz, the director, has firmly committed to under $30k, so I think it'll come in at $29,900 or a bit below.
