Question:

Volume control help with 5.1 surround?

This is kind of odd to me, but I have a diamond 5.1 soundcard that works fine, but when I "mute" the volume with the windows XP control, only the front 2 speakers are affected and the other 3 have no change. If I mute with the diamond interface, the opposite happens.

I must always make sure to set the windows volume control and the diamond volume control at the same level to have all the speakers' volume at the same level. I've tried several things with the windows controls to turn it off but no luck.

Also, I set windows advanced audio properties to show a 5.1 surround sound set up, but it always goes back to the default "desktop speakers" when I restart. Any suggestions?...especially for the muting problem now that I use my 360 controller as a remote (it's like the ATT that many vehicle head units have...cool, yes, but I want complete silence when I need it!).
