Volume doesn't work, or speakers??? help!!!?

hey can someone please help me you knows stuff about computers....

the volume/sound just stopped working on my computer and i have noo idea why, and i need the ******** volume! the green light that says the speakers are plugged in is on, and i checked on the computer (obviously) to turn it up but it won't work! it makes no sense! there is just no sound.. i play music and it's going it says but i don't hear anything and im not deaf! i've tried restarting the computer a few times, unplugging and plugging in the speakers, and i've looked to see if something has been unplugged but i do'nt think so! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP MEEE!!!

Click on the speaker icon.  Is there a check in the mute box?  uncheck it.  If that doesn&#039;t fix it we can go to the next step:  Double click on the speaker icon.  A screen should open with several volume sliders.  Is one of them turned down, or is there a check in any of the mute boxes?  If that doesn&#039;t fix it you can email me and we will go to the next step.
