VolunTour launched by Sochi 2014 Olympic Games
The Sochi 2014 Olympic Games organisers have begun a campaign by the name of ‘VolunTour’ which is an effort to round up volunteers for the next Olympics after the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The initiative was launched by the Sochi 2014 organizers just when there were exactly two years left until the time that the Games would take place. The estimated number of volunteers that Sochi 2014 has its eyes on for the Games are 25,000.
In contrast to this number, the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games will be making use of a total of 70,000 volunteers to help put up a successful event. The first orientation sessions of the London 2012 Olympics has already taken place that featured a total
of 10,000 participants.
The president of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, Dmitry Chernyshenko, expressed himself on the matter in the following manner, “The real legacy of Sochi 2014 lies in bringing about a deep change within Russian culture. Through our Sochi 2014 volunteers movement,
thousands of young and enthusiastic Russians are reintroducing volunteering into Russian society, something that has been absent for far too long.”
The Sochi Olympics will be making use of a total of 26 locations that will be serving the purpose of acting as the volunteer centres. The recruiting of the volunteers for the Sochi 2014 Games would be done in places such as Volgograd, Novocherkassk and Novorossiysk.
The volunteer centres do not provide the only way to get registered for the Sochi 2014 event, interested individuals can also get themselves registered through the official website of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games.
The campaign to attract volunteers for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games has also been launched on the official website of the Olympic Games. One of the aims of the campaign is to attract a total of 200,000 people to the website before the year is out.
