Volunteer at an Event (environment)?

Does anyone know an event (something to do with the environment) in New York (Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx) Long Island (not favored but an option) where a volunteer group can volunteer at?

An event that takes place during the dates of June 28 - August 15.

If you're sophisticated enough to use Yahoo Answers, you can find one yourself.

Start with craigslist.com for New York in the volunteers section (upper left). Then, if necessary, go to Google, just in general, and then with environmental groups whose names you've learned. See what they're doing than you could be a part of.

I'd go to this one and ask around the volunteers there for environmental events. There's lots of overlap among volunteers who care about living things.
