Question:

Volunteer databases?

I'm looking for a summer internship at a non profit organization somewhere in the US.  I know about idealist.com, but can anyone recommend another good database for people looking for full time work with a non profit for a couple of months?

(I'm a college student, if it matters.)

  1. ok: it is very important with "VolunteersMatch an Non -Profit

Organization  that has United Way  & Jobcareers

    visit http://www.volunteersmatch.org

  2. Usually your college Career Center will have this type of information available for their students.

  3. http://abc.go.com/abettercommunity/index...

A better community is sponsored by abc.  It has several other organizations you can choose from for volunteering.

  4. Most internships are unpaid and, therefore, volunteering. VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org) is a good place to look for volunteering opportunities, in addition to Idealist. Even if these databases don't list opportunities in which you are interested in, use them to find organizations engaged in the kind of work in which you are interested, and forward them a letter of introduction detailing the kind of internship you are interested in, and your resume and references.

  5. The only one that has not been listed would be:

    http://craigslistfoundation.org/

    Good Luck

You can also google volunteer or talk to a counselor at your school for internships  you might get some college credits for it also.

  6. There are many great places where you can serve a volunteer mission in the USA. Perhaps you can find something at: http://www.volunteermatch.org .

    Give it a try.
